Black Betty - Formerly Blaze the Monster Machine

1984 K5 Project for Dad and kids
Congrats on the new job. :waytogo:

So don't ship any new parts to your old work address, got it... ;)

Pictures don’t show much but old motor is about ready to come out. Bell housing bolts and motor mounts and it’s out. Im pushing to get it and the old transmission pulled and hauled off to the scrap yard on Friday along with the radiator, old gas tank, and old hitch. Maybe next week I’ll be able to get everything cleaned up and the following week drop the new engine in it.

Yes but it's coming apart so easily. Haven't had to cut a single hose. Just loosen the clamp and slide it off. Not bad for sitting in the dirt for 10 years.

Don't need a 700r4 (got a built 4l80e to go in) and I don't need a 350 laying around collecting dust and I don't have the space to hang on to it until some scrapper on craigslist wants to give me $50 for it since it needs a rebuild in the worst way. It spins but there's all sorts of stuff in the intake manifold and water came out of the oil pan before the oil started to so who knows what the bearings and crank look like. After seeing what the coolant looked like in the t-stat housing, I can imagine what the rest of the cooling ports look like. I'm not a parts hoarder and the next project I'm building will be my dream chevelle and that will start with a 454 bolted to a manual trans.

Shop is full as it is. Once I get the new engine bolted into the truck I can stuff the engine stand in the attic and I can put the cherry picker where the engine stand was. Table saw and top side creeper are getting hung on the wall. The atv power wheels is getting sold. I hate cluttered garages and this one is driving me insane. Can't even get to my work bench because of the stuff. Wife and daughter want a four wheeler so I gotta find a spot for that. This doesn't show the boxes for the holley injection, 4l80, np208, converter, DIY4X doors, winch, generator, black stone, other parts that are stuffed in to my soon to be office.

I should show you what a cluttered garage is like.
On the scrapping the engine in the state it's in I agree, unless someone on here needs a core and is willing to come quickly and get it.
A few years ago I would have kept it.

If I had the space and a vehicle to put it in I’d keep it and rebuild it but I don’t so I’m not.

was there an electric fuel pump on the passenger fenderwell?

if so, that engine was actually running at one time, probably 10 years ago.

I could have loaded you up with one of them :pimp1:
