Blazer Bash 2020 last minute thrash

I haven't really touched the truck since I prepped it for KOH and I beat the snot out of it there and two more times since then...

I know I've got some ballistic joints I need to swap out and I need to fix my exhaust and go over everything else.

When you pull t-case and adapter, heli-coil the transmission tail housing to tc adapter bolts if you haven't already. They are notorious for stripping out at the worst time.

Is this typical with all GM transmissions, running a 4l80e w/6 bolt adapter.

Funny thing, the S-10 kinda gets neglected and while we were wheeling this weekend (put about 300 miles on it). I noticed the oil pressure gauge was bouncing, turns out it was 3 quarts low...

Topped it off and I've still got great oil pressure, I'm going to change the oil and open up the filter when I get home, but I think I lucked out (Thanks Amsoil!).

I had decided to put the 6.0 in the shop truck and I think the S-10 was trying to reclaim it.

In 2015 I drove my truck for the first time after trailer it 7 hours after a 5 year long build. I was still installing parts the morning of the meet and greet. Wheeled two trails and only had issues coming off the trail, of all the things I never tightened down the battery cable to the post.

Haven't seen a 4l80 do it. Mostly th350, th400, and 700r's. But any cast aluminum threaded hole can pull through if over torqued even once.

Also. At that beach trip I had both lockers locked and the 208 in 4Low because there was no way I was going to get stuck in front of a thousand other beach goers lol. So, so far, everything is going well.

As long as you built it, you are fine.
Don't buy a built truck and take it straight to moab on a trailer :doah:

It is just a suggestion. But the last minute guys get stuck in the back of the pack. This way there might be enough of their parts to get one of the trucks through.
 
Manx club has an award. It is called the Philippe award after a member who would bring a buggy that needed much work, and would be repaired after breaking down and holding the group up. So now anyone that breaks and hold the group up gets the Philippe award.
Starts out as an air cooled vw can and gear. Winner must attach something related to break down and return to next run, for the next guy.
On the annual July big bear run, the are 3 or 4 winners out of @200+ buggies. Is always a good ribbing at the awards and raffle.
 
We have a hard luck trophy. It’s a mangled chunk of drive line. But we don’t add stuff to it

I did that run once in my number 3 Tow'd.
 
Sold it to a local who was going to join the club. No Idea. That was 20+ years ago. Taught both of my kids to drive a stick in it.
 
There a number of tow'ds still active.
This 1 belongs to a young lady, she learned to drive with it, on club runs b4 16th bday. Leaving on ladies run big bear 2019 this pic.
