Blazer Bash 2022 general discussion thread.

There is a YouTube video for the commission meeting.

At 4 hours and 7 minutes, they start the debate for the Hummer Club permit. They debate their process more than the event.

At 4:20:32 ours starts.

Again, debating the process more than the event. They are wrong stating that the Grand County COI is not there. I have copies with me even. Rachel worked directly with the insurance.

The lady finally found it.

Then they ask about the business. They have my Articles of Incorporation.

Kevin Walker seems to be a level headed guy.

This is more about their process, less about our event.

A few times they admitted to not wanting motorized events.

One lady claims they had to hand hold me to get it done. Bullshit. The web site only has ruck registration. Bullshit. Does both. All of the information is on the website.

I did not sleep at all last night.

And now I need to drive 8 plus hours with no sleep.

It's so bizarre that, with all of the regular events that happen in Moab, that the counsel (as a whole) isn't more familiar with the application process and/or changes. I understand city counsel members change periodically but it's late in the year for some of these steps to be a surprise.

It also baffles me that their general attitude is to weed out / discourage events that generate income for the city.

So if it didn’t start on Friday sounds like they would have denied it. They claim it’s the last minute, yet aren’t they the ones that decided to hold it until this meeting? And they didn’t even state what all they needed until inside the 120 day window fro what I’ve seen from following all this…

I like how they claim that they don’t have a total number of people, it’s not like we’re rolling in in buses that can hold 55 people, if you have 40 trucks you can figure 80 people or less…..

Wow, I give props to you for navigating this so we can have this event.

I think the root of a lot of this is the side by side groups that roll in and destroy so many trails and towns. I’ve seen it at my local parks….

You should've seen the public mountain lands this past weekend by me, super busy and way over crowded compared to what it was pre-covid(I'm 2.5 hrs from moab) I can only imagine a non-event weekend down there let alone a big off road event and how many people show up with side by sides from up by salt lake city and all over. We are sick of it in my area already. Can't find a camping spot like we used to and so over ran with machines on the trails. And the county leaders here are pushing the tourism thing to replace the coal industry.

The thing that still irritates me about the whole process is the ONLY reason we have to collect money for the event is because of all the permits required in order to do it.

The comment and attitude that stated “we have the power” was some real HOA pres energy.

I say we find another community that wants and appreciates our financial support, to hold our well organized no drama event.

223 miles from the Flying J in Richfield ut to grand Junction. So now I won't even stop in Green River ( normal gas stop) for gas or food or ??

They have to replace the income with something or heaven forbid I don't know down size the government.

They canceled our county fair to supposedly give more money for first responders but the county commissioners still gave themselves raises.
