Blazer Chalet / GMC Jimmy Casa Grande spotted

Was the Cobra CB radio a factory option...
Can't say with authority that it wasn't, since it is possible that the Chinook people might have put one in for one rig. Basically, though, if it was not a factory option for regular Blazers, it wouldn't have shown up at the GM factory when the particular trucks matching some GM/Chinook criteria were pulled off the line to have the camper units added.

Yep, this one is #1203 built in 10/76 which I've seen since January 2015 starting at $8500, but this is still useful news since the seller is now arriving nearer a more reasonable selling figure.

Meanwhile, the Casa Grande in Houston from yesterday's post is still online, but one of my pals said he called, and the seller said it was gone and immediately hung up on him without offering any more info.

Sorta. But with this one - #1037 built in 10/76 - the seller had it listed back in March, and it might be the same person or a prior owner who had it on ebay twice last summer. 'Needs work', to put it politely.

Keep 'em coming, though, I have not perfected the nationwide search of Craigslist, and sometimes the sellers misspell the name or call them something else which gets past my search links. And one of these days I'll have to figure out how Instagram works, since a recent search there turns up rigs I've never seen before.

Have you used searchtempest.com, searches craigslist nationwide?

Yep, but from what I've seen, it doesn't work much better than a direct site-specific Google search of Craigslist, and takes longer. I still get the impression that the Craigslist system is deliberately trying to thwart nationwide searches. Google turns up nothing sometimes, but I find ads elsewhere which say "blazer chalet" verbatim in a way that a Google search should pick up. And when it finally does, it's days or more than a week before Google spots it. I know Craigslist has killed off nationwide search sites in the past ...

And this is what I'm talking about on Google not catching Chalets that other search engines can see. I just found Chalet #1779 via a DuckDuck search:

Btw, this other unidentified Chalet is back at ebay, and the seller still hasn't responded to my question the second time now about posting a photo of the camper serial number plate at his listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252920392949 If his rig really is #0007, then he could show the SN plate with that on it.

Someone should message them and ask what they did to make it worth $3500 more than when they bought it. (Bet they probably didn't pay the $1500 for it either).:surepal:

I wouldn't mind owning one of these, but thanks to people like the above eBay link I'll never be able to afford it...:angry1:

'Tis the season for dealer/flippers. The Chalet #1037 in Franklin TN with the asking price of $1500 -- in this short of a time span -- has been trailered up the road to the same Olive Hill KY place as the above unidentified double camper stripe Chalet, and is on ebay today for the BiN price of a buck under $5 grand: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252927720303

Bahahahah!
No way in God's green earth is that thing worth 6 G's. I don't care if it's a one of one chalet. It's still an old rusted out K5.
If he gets it, then there is just proof that a sucker is born every minute!

And, regarding this alleged "#7 of 1712 produced" Chalet, the seller has relisted it for a 4th time now http://www.ebay.com/itm/252940631631 with an outright copy 'n paste of his description text where he claims he's had to relist it twice due to non payment from the auction winners. Although in the literal sense of it, the seller didn't mean to apply that to the current relisting of it, between the end of his last listing and this new one yesterday was only a matter of around 12 hours. But where he need mean to apply that for the prior relisting, that one only involved around 13 hours overnight. Meanwhile, the seller has not yet done everyone the favor of adding a photo of the camper's serial number plate in order to show that it is actually Chalet #0007, which could be 3 spots lower in the production list than any other Chalet I've ever seen (Chalet #0010 is owned by our Chalet forum owner in France).

I'm wondering if the otherwise from-the-factory burnt orange roof was repainted or if it has a '77 tan roof on it, but the one other mystery for me is the square fuel filler door. Every '76 & '77 Chalet I've seen has a round fuel filler door.

Based on those two things, I would bet it had a tub swap.

At the very least, something ain't right. I asked our man here Dremu about that and he noted how '79s and up had the filler doors, but said "Presumably it had the quarter panel replaced at some point with a newer one, as the grille is correct for 76-77." This thing has the rounder later model mirrors, but I've seen quite a few genuine '76-'77 Chalets with those mirrors swapped onto them.
