Blazer's 85 Suburban "Twinkie"

it is what it is, I know code is prevalent here in MI. thats why they have construction inspections.
Seems like those 2x6 stringers would be awful springy supported @ 8’ centers, unless they were mounted vertically onto the trusses.
Here its common for trusses to be set @ 2’ O.C. for snow load. If a shingle roof, 1/2” OSB umderlayment directly to the trusses, if a metal roof, 2x4 stringers every 2’ to the peak.

Those numbers are pretty much what most stick frame houses are set at, but I'm pretty sure @imiceman44 is right, it's the structural engineer that sets the span. When the construction inspector comes, he's checking it against the structural plan.

(how the hell did we end up having a construction argument on a truck site?!? lol )

It was 102 here but it cools off at night so our shop is mostly cooled by running a fan in the roof peak at night. There are big louver vents at the opposite side it draws the cool air in with. With the help of insulation, the shop stays pretty comfortable until about 3 to 4 in the afternoon. The guys will run a swamp cooler on a rolling cart to spot cool it down further, but I just like to use the fan on it. I don't like the humidity the full swamper adds.

If I remember correctly the shop is 4,800 sq-ft. It has 18ft sidewalls; I can't imagine what it would cost to air condition. Cooling it off at night and moving air during the day are the keys. Plus you gotta hope like hell you don't have to open one of the two 12' x 18' holes during the day letting all the hot air in.

Some of the work I did on Saturday, it was hot, I sweated a lot, it felt good, until today now I am sore as crap. Did get a lot of work done. Metal rack is new, door on the end is new. Still have to cut the old doors off and do some finishing trim around the door. Add insulation to the inside, trim a bunch of the expanding foam down. Then put some plywood on. The dead bolt hole needs some trimming also. Looks a bunch better and have a ton more space.

Oh and that is all 50 states and they are in enter the union order. The motorcycles on the bottom are just where I hung those. The New Jersey plate was mine from the Nova, the motorcycle NJ plates were my father's and my uncle's.

I have about 50 more plates of different varieties to still hang up somewhere.

You can pick up a cheap two channel receiver with Bluetooth for audio. That’s what I run in my shop.

I have a Sony receiver and some Polk audio speakers for the shop, what do I use you ask ? A Roku sound bar with the Live one app. No commercials and I skip carb if I am not feeling it. Paid membership for that thou.

another shop update

Kind of upset but not to badly. I have been saving that stereo system for like 30 years in my basement. Yeah the C/D player doesn't work now and the reception sucks for the radio. So going to go another route for some music in the shop.
You can run a a RG6 coax and a cheap antenna, thats what I did.

I also have a small adaptor cable to plug into the audio jack on my phone when I want to listen to the phone music. I have an old 7.1 channel receiver I got for free in my shop with 7 old speakers and an old sub I had sitting around. It was free and it works well.

You can also get a bluetooth adaptor and plug it into your receiver.

The guys in the shop listen to music on a pair of computer speakers and powered woofer I bought in the 90s. I'm always amazed how long they've lasted.
