"Bolt-on" Single cab conversion

Its not to bad if you ship it to Seattle and put it on the barge just takes forever

It's on the back burner behind about 30 projects. The original Fiberglass guy never contacted me back in November. I am sure life just caught up with him.

I have it and I am probably going to keep it, but if I can find a local fiberglass guy to build molds and engineer everything, THEN thee will be ones for sale.

I have already sourced the correct rear window and gasket.

I am looking for a vehicle, not very hard, to fit the lower section as this one does not have one, so I have to build one.

If I ever sell it, MINE goes to obijuan. But even if he does not want it, it would take a large sum of cash for me to cut it loose.

I want to use it on my Suburban.

what are you thinking for the lower part 54?

I wonder if one could use the front of a truck box as a template for the lower section.. shape it to fit the inner contour of a blazer (or suburban) and weatherstripping of some sort to keep the elements out. just some thoughts

Exactly what I was thinking.

I want it a bolt and go kinda thing, with weatherstripping sandwiched in between 3 sides and bolting on one side, so you can run it or not and not have any unnecessary holes.

Bump

So another member on here found one on craigslist and posted it up for $250 :eek1: It included the lower section as well with all weatherstripping and bolts to attach it to the floor pan. It was in immaculate shape.

I wanted to buy it but the seller didn't want to ship it and ended up selling to someone locally. Now I've been thinking of these again... anyone have any leads on any?

Jon, did we hit a dead end with the company?

Somehow I missed this...

As I recall, (don't feel like looking through the thread) the dude that has the original molds is willing to run off as many as we want. Obviously larger quantities would lower the price per unit.

He doesn't have the means to manufacture the metal lower bulkhead, but did say he'd included detailed technical drawings for us to either make our own, or have a shop that does metal fab work do it.

It's only dead cause we didn't act. I hit money problems, and now my K5 isn't even running. :(

I have a buddy that can make these for cheap ( like a little above cost ) if he can get the molds

:mad1: I should have bought that one in Oregon :angry1:

He was asking $250 for the K5 to pickup conversion kit and was immaculate.
It included the white fiberglass top piece with window AND the steel lower half with all the weatherstripping in brand new condition! (he replaced some). He said that it was in good shape, here's the quote from my email:

Kit is complete. I had it on my 76 blazer for about 2 months. I purchased the kit from the original owner who never installed it. It's been in my garage for about 3 yrs now it is in perfect shape, as for the weather stripping it came with new but the adhesive was no good so i went to my local hardware store and purchased it no problem finding it . Nothing on this kit is home made or monkey rigged. The back slider is from a dodge pickup about 80's model. I do believe the kit is made by creative creations it bolts into existing holes in the floor of the blazer and where the top bolts into you probably have this information all ready. I will work on more pic's for you, i have plans this weekend so i will get to it as soon as i can.

Never got the pics unfortunately, he sold it to someone locally. I would have offered him $1,000 shipped if I could do it again. These things are near non-existent. Shiet.

I would buy a set of the lower plans and fab it up myself.

Let me know and I am in for the plans.

Thanks!
