Build of oleyeller

Does that flange bolt on or is it a slip type?

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted in here so here’s an update.

I’ve driven it to a few truck meets locally and am very pleased with the 5.3 swap. It will sit for weeks in between starts and fires right up when I bump the key. Just bought a pipe bender so the roll cage project is getting closer. I hope to update with some pics soon.

Finaly got the ole girl cleaned up some. Still a lot of plans just not really the time to work on it. Hoping to get a trip soon to an offroad trail somewhere.91986692-4E2E-478C-8281-53A7A36794E9.jpeg

This was the longest cruise me and my buddy did so far with our k5s. Mostly highway cruise at 60-65 mph. My yellow 84 got about 11.2 mpg with a 5.3/th400/205 5.13 with 40 inch tires. The orange 86 got about 8.7 mpg with a 454/th400/208 4.56 39.5 tires. He just got his back from paint and is the first real drive for him since he got it 6 years ago. Got the front springs on and realized I had put the zero rate on backwards and moved the axle forward 3” instead of 1 1/2” I’m a big dummy :doah:the truck did not come down in any lift. I thought it had 12” front springs (unconfirmed) and now ordered the 7” ORD. Also by adding the extended rear shackles my front driveshaft is binding up and I may have to add degree shims. I ran out of time working on it so it’s been parked till I can get back on it. Hate to put anything ford on my chevy but my shock towers came in. Also got my Mile Marker solenoid. Still waiting on a few more goodies and then some time to work on the ole K5!D7B62D3A-E453-434F-B47A-842F0CA59166.jpeg

Out with the old in with the new. I went ahead and just kept the Dana 60 calipers up front. I was thinking about converting to the 3/4 calipers but ended up just keeping the 60’s.

Truck looks great man. Other than the lift height, we are almost building the same truck. When I get back in town, I might need to swing by and look at this thing, and get some ideas.
Yeah just let me know when you pass through!

Got some wrench time on the ole truck today front calipers on, winch mounted and working, front springs fixed from the zero rates installed wrong.
