Haha,
well, here is goes.....
I do enjoy a good time out fishing. Found this little boat and trailer for $100. Was pretty ratty ol' fiberglass boat so thought I'd fix it up. I did all the fiberglass work and it ended up being like 12 different colors. So I went down to the local marine shop and found some orange paint so I was thinking why the heck not paint it like the general lee, that would be sweet. It was just a little winter project I had. It's a sweet boat and handles great. I think everyone is pretty jealous of my general lee boat   . I'm just being a kid

I spotted it the second time I was looking at the axles on the trailer and had to know the story behind it.

Unfortunatly I don't. Gotta save my battery for my electric motor. Last time I took it out, I barely made it home.:D

:haha: I'll look into that....of course after my other money hole is taken care of which would be my blazer. Fishing has been the least of my priorities unfortunatly. I wanna get my blazer done.

If you look close enough, there is a blazer behind that good lookin fella. This is a picture from a couple years ago. Got bored tonight so thought I'd pull out an old senior photo and show you guys what my blazer used to look like. I had it pretty much done, then I told my dad one day that it needed to be pulled apart again because I wanted it bigger and made for wheelin. Goal for tomorrow is to be putting the cab on, so hopefully I'll have some succesful pictures of that later in the evening tomorrow. Fingers crossed..

Success!!!! The Cab Is On

 After about 4 hours of steady work, my dad and I were able to complete the task. Here are a couple pictures. I think it's lookin good. May have to go with a slight body lift to help clear the tires. I will be putting bushwacker cutout flares on it too most likely. Any opinions?

I'll try to resize them, I'm pretty computer illiterate. about the zero rates, those are allready in the mail. They will give me 1 inch more lift, and move my axle which I'm aware of, but I'm feeling like my tires are gonna hit in the rear when flexing the little amount that I can. So at most, I was thinking a zero rate and a 1 inch body lift. What do you think about cutouts avery?

Great way to start here on CK5. :thumb: :pimp:

It's funny, at first I felt like I was reading about my own build - I'm doing a frame off overhaul with similar lift and tires, I'm even using the same rear wheel spacers for my H1's. :rotfl:

Post up some more specs about the truck.

Sorry, I passed over your post I guess. Well is a 14bff in the rear with discs 4.88's and a detroit with the 4" wheel spacers. The front is a drw 60 with 4.88's all chromoly 35 spline with crossover high steer and a detroit. Also have hydraulic assist. Picking up my 4spd/205 next week then going out and having 2 new shafts built. Putting a CV joint on rear dirveshaft because of the 8" lift and not so perfect shaft angle. As far as the motor, I'm putting in either a built 454 or may go with a bored tall deck 427.

Man, that thing is looking good! The specs sound like it'll be a really nice truck when your done. :thumb:

I envy you having the shop to do it in, my frame off is happening slowly on the weekends outside. I have tried to take the time to clean and paint everything on mine but with it sitting outside all the time it's fading and getting covered in bird poo faster than I can touch it up. :rotfl:

Be careful with the flares, if your style of wheeling is in tight places they may get damaged or knocked loose a lot. Ratzila had some on his Burb and it seemed like he was always pulling one loose.

That's looking really good! That takes talent and time to do a frame off restoration like that

Yeah, I've heard some bad things about those cutouts too. But I don't wanna do some major fender trimming because it seems like its pretty difficult and nearly impossible to get a trim that really looks good on the truck. My rear would have to be cutout quite a bit because there is a good sized chunk of bondo in the back of my rear wheel well and I'd have to cut that all the way out otherwise the bondo would be visible, thats another reason I was going the cutout fender flare route.

What was the final mounting position of the shackle flips? Did you just swap sides or redrill them (if so, how much)?

I hear on the flares, sometimes the shortest route (like trimming) just opens up a can of worms. :doah:
