Building Blazer still

Sorry about the pictures, I took them with my Cell Phone. I have to go back to work for 2 weeks now so I wont have any updates for awhile. Gem Auto will install the ORD 203/205 doubler with tripple sticks, ARB Locker in the front to replace the Detroit True Track and CNC Cutting brakes for me when I am gone. So the build will continue.:woot:

What do you guy's think an ultimate crawl ratio should be?
With 5.38's in the axels & ORD's 203/205 (LoMax 3 to 1) doubler I should be at 80:1
I am running 42" TSL's for the rocks and 44" Boggers for mud bogs. Do you think 47" LTB tires would be an option with the axels I have in the rocks? They are built axels, chrome moly 35 spline ect... I am thinking I should stick with the 42" TSL's for the rocks, what do you think? If I stick with the 42's would you recomend cutting them some way for better traction? I am just searching for advise & information. I did get 17" TR Beadlocks from ORD so I am able to air down now. Maybe I should just be happy with the 42" TSL's the way they are?
Thanks

I have a th400, 203/205, and 5.38s with 43s and feel I have plenty of gearing. Would have to think with your 3:1 option you should be fine with 47s IMO.

MNorby do you think I should go with 47's or 43's or stick with the 42's. I guess if you were going to buy a new tire what do you recomend? I am very happy with the Boggers in the Mud and the 42's have been good in the rocks but I was thinking of going bigger since I have the clearence now. Please tell me what you think, I don't want to go to big since I do not have Rockwells. I did extend the wheel base to 116 1/2 inch from 106 1/2 inches.:dunno:

IMO a 115" wheelbase and a 42 work really good. I plan on going to a 47 after my Rockwell swap but if I was going to stay on tons I think I would keep my 43s. Mine is 123" though.

Matt, post up a pic of how you cut you sx's also. Seems to be a popular way and work pretty well too. Gets some extra biting edges grabbing at the rocks anyways.

here is a decent pic of them

Those look good, just slit the inner treads then. So If I were to get new tires what size and kind would you buy for my Rig. You see my buddy and I are building his K5 trug and he needs tires and I was going to help him out by buying a new set and giving him my 42" TSL's. I am in a good situation now and I can afford new tires where he can't. I just want another chevy to go 4X4ing with.

I am really happy with my 43s. You can get them in a sticky if you really want to get serious. Otherwise seems like aot of folks like the kevlar goodyears too.

The 42" Goodyear kevlars are pretty impressive on the ord flag buggy. Pretty sure they where every bit as big as the 43" sx. Would be a hard choice with both of them sitting there looking at me.

I looked into both Tires & it looks like the 42" Good Year MTR Kevlar are on back order & sold out for awhile and I can get the 43" TSL SX right away. The TSL SX are $560 plus shipping 121lbs, The GY Kevlar are $525 plus shipping 91bls. The GY are a alot lighter tire and is only 3/4 of an inch shorter! I think I may wait awhile before I buy anything. The 47" LTB is $560 plus shipping 160lbs. My 42" TSL I have now are 100lbs a piece according to the website. The 42" Irock is $540 plus shipping 97lbs.
Any thoughts on better prices on tires?

I recieved this from my motor builder last night:
We have the shortblock together. Tomorrow we will install the timing cover and oil pan, index the timing pointer and put the cylinder heads on. The Edelbrock fuel injection system is on the way. We should see it soon. I will send you some pictures tomorrow.:woot:

watch the blemish listing on interco website. that is where I got my 43s for $345 ea if I remember right. seems like it was about 1500 shipped for the set.

Maybe try ord or 4wheel parts in denver. Sales tax might be cheaper than shipping if you could go pick them up? The new nittos got a lot of good press today from koh too!

my 40s I got years ago from 4wheelparts has a deal for free shipping at the time. If in no big hurry might wait and see if they have any sales like that.

From my Motor builder

Hello Mike,
Attached are the pictures of your engine. Monday we will be installing the timing cover, timing pointer and oil pan. We will also be figuring out the valve train geomtery to order the correct length pushrods. On Tuesday we will install the pushrods and rocker arms. We should the the fuel injection system any day now.

Thanks,
Larry
