Building Blazer still

Well its been awhile since I have been on here.
I found many things wrong with the Blazer and I was lied to about parts and work that was done to it by S & S Metal Works out of Fruita Colorado. S & S Metal Works does not exist anymore but would stay as far away from anyone associated with them that does any mechanical work, HACKS!. I found out that they did not use all my HD parts out of my tranny and gave me a stock one. After inspection of the Tranny all my high dollar parts were not there, only stock parts. They put in the wrong Manual Valve body and the wrong Torque Converter in it also. There is no way they ran NOS thru it because it leaked too much which was a good thing because the motor could not have gotten enough fuel to live. All the wiring, Complete NOS System, Tranny, Front Sway Bar and numerous bolts had to be fixed after I got it back from them!:angry1:
I had Advance Transmission out of Fort Collins work on it and they fixed the wiring and tuned it for me so I could go on my Moab trip in May. They did a great job, very professional wiring & Tuning. They tuned it on their chassis Dyno and then they discovered I did not have enough Coil and Distributor for the motor at higher RPM’s. They did not play with the NOS because they have to redo the whole NOS system. I am bring it back to them to fix the Tranny and NOS after my Moab trip hoping the tranny lives! They still got good Dyno number considering thing were not correct. At the rear tires with 44’s on it they got 428 HP & 460 Ft Lbs of Torque.

My boy's Scale RC from Carter Fab made it for the trip also!
He loves it.:woot:
Carter Fab is building an exact Scale of Thumper and it should be done in a month or so, should be cool!

I got Thumper all cleaned up and took it back to Advance Transmission in Fort Collins. They took the Tranny out and put all heavy duty top of the line parts back in it, correct Manual Valve Body and the correct Torque Converter that was custom built for Thumper to handle some Horse Power! They put in a distributor & coil built to the motor. They are redoing the NOS System and I will have two tunes, one at 125hp and one at 250hp. They are working on it right now and will Dyno Tune it again. I can't wait to see what I have at the rear tires! We have a Mud Bog in Laramie on June 22nd so that is where I am going to make my first Mud Race with Thumper.
Messing around and made a couple of pictures, I hope its true and I do not embarrass myself! All in FUN!

Well sorry mike for all the troubles you had with them. And sorry for introducing you to them. I'm sorry for all of your headaches that been because of this. I also ended up getting screwed by him. And now I am trying to figure out how to fix mine the right way so that it works correctly. I just don't have the funds right now to be able to fix it so blazer bash might be in my blazer instead of my crew cab. But we will see. So again I'm sorry and hope that one of these days we can wheel together again.

Not your fault at all! I know he is capable but he does not pay attention to detail at all!
I have zero, no hard feelings about you at all. Like I said it's not your fault at all, you were just trying to help a guy out!
I hope you get the Crew Cab going because I think it's BA!
We most defiantly need to wheel again! The next time I will be in that area will be for BB. I really do hope you have the Crew going. It sucks and I feel bad for you also! Good luck and stay intouch!

Well thanks mike. I hope I can get my front links figured out so that it works right. And we will see you at BB13 for sure one way or another. :smile1:

Glad to hear Moab went well.

I had heard rumers about S&S. No first hand knowledge.

I can not tell you how many vehicles over the years, I have fixed after a professional shop worked on them. All types of builds. Really frustrates me to see people get ripped off.

Not too concerned when I give them a ball park price, and they opt for the cheaper. Then bring it to me to finish or correct. I add 20% to my original price to deal with the other crap.

I have to toot my own horn here. The 34 Chevy I built for my mom was sold to a guy in Ca. He called to thank me for the professional build. A buddy of his is looking for a shop to do a similar car. Wanted to know where my shop was.

Not.....

That's good to know, I contacted you a little bit about my buddies build a while back and we may be in touch!

Thumper is looking SICK!

You may have mentioned it elsewhere in the thread, but how much is the front and rear tapered and what's your wheelbase?

Thanks man!
The front is narrowed 10 inches and the rear around 22 inches.
Wheel base is 116 1/2 inches, moved rear axel back 10 1/2 inches and my front & rear drivelines are the same length with the ORD doubler.

More info on these sides? What are they made of? How do they mount?

Steel frame, Lexan & bolts. Cut slots in the top of the side rails & made steel frame to slide in and bolted on the top, all custom made. Works great and comes off in ten minutes.

Thumper got Dyno'ed

We got some pretty good numbers to the rear tires, 675 HP and not sure on torque because it flashed on Dyno at 5500 rpms at 675 ft/lbs. They are guessing well over 800 at the tires, we are going to change the converter again to make it what we want! Over 1000hp at the crank now!!! I will have video to come once I get them downloaded.

Mud bog

Ran Thumper in the Laramie Mud Bog or Mud Race because there was not much mud, only about 14". The 44" boggers on 16" wide rims we're way to big for the track but Thumper did good for the first time out. My Fastest time was 4 seconds flat. The fastest time of the day was 2.88 seconds full on Mud rails with cut tires. I drove Thumper to and from the race! That was cool!:waytogo: I need to get some 39" cut tires with light wt rims to see what it can do. Thumper weight is 6,700 lbs so it did dam good!! Impressed a lot of people!

Thumper had the loudest stereo! Lol I had to compete against all the cut tire guys but still did ok, I should have gone against DOT tires but that class did not exist at this race for some reason, was told I placed 7th out of 17 rigs, not bad for a heavy rig on DOT tires! There was only three of us in that class that was full sized with DOT tires and not mud rails with cut tires, hell the same guy that won this class won the open class, no difference in the rigs, oh well I had a good time!
