Thermostat Is a 180. The issue I had was sitting at lights or in traffic it would slowly creep up to 220 and I think it would have kept going

With the mods I fired it up let it idle in drive ac maxed out sitting in the sun for 45 mins....

203. I can live with that. Generally those are the conditions that was causing me to hit 220.

I may look into a new radiator eventually because mine is 11+ years old. However it gets flushed frequently

Ok drove it on the freeway. Cool temps 80's
Sits at 210 on the freeway with ac
Sits at 208-212 off freeway
Drive without ac 203-206 city 208 freeway

I hate to just throw money at stuff but do I need to figure out something better for a radiator?

I have the 454 radiator it came with when a bought it in 2004. I have flushed it a few times and drained and filled tins over the years. It has also been spray painted a bunch lol I didn't know any better...

What size is the one that is in it now vs. the 454 one ?

If it is running hotter on the freeway not enough air is getting through the radiator. Anything over 40 mph or so is enough air to cool whatever you have, just making it go through the radiator is the trick.

I have the oversized 454 one. I have the extra large 34" wide 20" tall 3" thick 454 radiator. I am unaware of a larger one.

I am out of ideas, unless I ditch the ac condenser or find a smaller one?

I just wondered if a fresh radiator would run better

As Keith said 210 or less wouldn't worry me as much as long as it stays there.

My concern is those canyons vetting down to moab and sitting in the heat crawling. Id feel a little better if I could bring it down a bit.

I think the only option is a smaller condenser and maybe a full performance radiator.

Called a shop that specializes in radiators and cooling systems.

His opinion, bring it in have him clean and rod the entire radiator. He said that radiator with a condenser in front of it would be more than enough for that build. He said the aluminum ones are nice but not worth the money and if this one is working at 100% it should cool better. I told him about the freeway vs city and he still said clean it first. So looks like I'll get it cleaned.

I also noticed a big hole/ gap on the one side of the fan shroud about 1.5" thick and 9" long I'm sure lots of air was getting sucked in there so I covered it with plexi glass and now the shroud has almost has 100% seal around the entire core of the radiator all sit it pulls must go past the radiator. Drove to work no ac and it was sitting at 201-203 mixed traffic and freeway but outside temps were 70s

not sure if this has been covered or not but what are you getting those readings from? Factory gauge or fitech?

Both and I swapped their temp sensor out day one because it said 70 when my mechanical said 190 lol. And it was doing this pre fitech* just didn't drive it enough to stress it before I did fitech

OK just making sure you weren't relying on one or the other.

The owners group on th warned me of the sensor lol so I had it long before my instalk

yeah it's been a common issue with a variety of EFI systems, I haven't noticed any problems on the installs I've done.
