Progress. The pully system worked, i will need to get another one for plan b.

Lots of progress, new water pump, thermostat and big ass fan installed today and i scored a free top to cut up thanks to @72gmck5 and @Drummingpeke

Yeah its only 12' wide. And 40' deep. Its a tight fit but they are housed
Mine is twice as wide but I usually end up with 10’ of space by the time I scatter stuff everywhere.
Filled the truck and started it. I let it idle a little over 15 mins and it never got warm enough to read on the mechanical gauge.
The big ass fan i have really moves air and the water pump seems to push a lot of fluid. I think all these things and the matched thermostat with the holes in it will definitely keep it cooler.
I need to drive it before i know if this was successful or not but it may be a couple days before i have time to take it out.
This pic is with the truck idling at 7-800 rpm. Thats a lot more airflow than i had before. I cant imagine what it will do at operating temps when the clutch is engaged and im driving.

Well shit... i took a 30 min drive up over the point and realized once i got home that my kickdown/tv cable wasnt connected... i hope i didnt kill my 700r4.... trans temps never went over 220...
Anyways, the truck ran a bit cooler. Full ac (trans running hot) and i went over the point and i only saw 208 as my high temp for just a little bit. If i turn off the ac it goes to 195-197... id say these numbers are acceptable. I just hated seeing 220+

Kind of hard to say. Keep driving it for a couple days. I bet you took some life off of it.
Did you do the visual and smell test on the fluid?
Nope but i will.
Funny thing is the trans was serviced literally 50 miles before this so my fluid was brand new with a nice additive

Really if the temps didn't go up too much over normal I think you'll likely be good.
The TV cable is dependent on throttle position so if you were easy on the throttle might have helped.
I know it helps control a myriad of functions but if your trans didn't get way hot it should be fine.
Only way to really tell is drive it.

it hit 220 but never went over that. and for this vehicle 200ish is normal, it typically matches the engine temp. i did get on it pretty hard a few times but it never got hot and it doesn't stink. once i realized what i did i connected the cable and took a drive, it felt a ton better and id say it felt pretty normal. temps stayed lower. i would be surprized if this trans has more thank 10K miles on it and the fluid has 50 miles tops... i am hoping those two things and the fact it didnt get hot might have saved my but. id hate to drive it to maob and have it burn up a trans on a trail.

Oh crap. ... this terd still runs hot... grrrrrrrrrrr.... i drove it 4 hours up a canyon and such and did ok, never got over 220 but once i got off the freeway and was sitting at a light i forgot to flip on my electric fan and left the ac on and it hit 228... not thrilled about that.
I may go to 2- 10"or 12" super high output pusher fans and have the fitech control those so i cant forget again. Two pushers and that giant mechanical should do the trick right?

Fans on a manual switch is asking for trouble
Yeah but having a full time mechanical fan SHOULD be enough...
