Hey guys sorry for the lack of updates for today...

But here you go.

I had to notch the rear corner so i could fit the other inner fender half on the truck.(first picture)

And I had to grind the dges down, and the area on the truck I was welding too. I also had to bend the lip out a little bit to make contact with the body. then I welded the sucker up there.(the rest of the pictures)

I also got around to fitting the driver side rear door up. It isn't quite there yet, but it has single handedly eaten most of my day up...

Lots of little cuts, and nibbles here and there.

So here is how it looks as it stands right now...

Hey guys. I'm dead. zero energy.

I don't have any pictures of the rear door welded in.... (see above for reason) I will get them tomorrow. Fitting the door in was pure hell. PURE hell, hahaha.


I gotta say from the bottom of my heart, I won't be doing another project like this for atleast another month. hahaha.

If I could take another week off work, I'd probably end up narrowing the front end aswell.......... . . . .

There is no swingy-swingy anymore....

Just a solid wall of beautiful chevy sheet metal, and windows....

What I would've really wanted to do, was get a rear sub door that had the roll down window....

That way you could just roll down the window, and get that full on wind in your hair kinda feeling.

But yeah. the doors are stationary. There would only be room for one hinge, and I think that would start to fail after a few usages...

I bet if someone go really creative, they could relocate the lower hinge further up the door, and get swing open half doors.

Not a bad idea actually. Though what do you need access to now? Not much storage room left...

A Burb gate would really have been cool...

Hey Craig, I didn't actually straighten that panel yet. that's what I meant about it not looking so bad in person. It was just the way the shadows hit it....

I was thinking about this idea. I was going to have the window halves open up, and the bottom halves welded in solid.

The major problem with that idea is the hinges themselves. A hinge can only operate (smoothly) if the other hinge is on the same plane, and angle. And chevy gave the barn such damn good sweeping lines on the doors, that to make the hinges work properly, they would be sticking out away from the truck a good 4-7"...

One hinge naturally sticks out of any burb with barn doors in a stock setup.

But yeah as Jay was saying, I maybe have a foot, to a foot and a half of usefull space behind the seats.

Enough space to store some tools, and other jazz.

That is actually a good idea, maybe I'll divide the space back there, and make slots, and holders for all my tools, and sheit!

Sunday, and Monday I took off from the truck. I needed some time to relax a bit before work started back up again...

Today I was SUPPOSED to work on ol' Duke, and instead got stuck with yard work. Actually I am still doing yard work...

Wednesday, and thursday areovertime days. But I am going to try and plug away at the truck on wednesday. Because thursday is my brothers CD release party....

Friday, and sunday are going to be big truck work days. Saturday is supposed to be raining. But if it is only overcast, then work will be done to the truck.

I'll take a picture of the rear door welded in tomorrow wether I get stuff done or not, okay buddy??

Well Craig you got the better of me...

Here are some pictures of the rear door welded in. (First two)

And then I included some of my "yard work". When mowing many an acre of unforgiving grass and weeds, I allways bust out the 30 dollar wiper-sniper. It is just the right tool for those "large jobs" where time and lack of space are crucial purchasing components.

So I cut the strip of steel to bridge the gap between the two inner fender halves.

I cut the material using these snips (first picture). These things ROCK!!

No joke. No lie. No kidding around.

I was using the old classic style straight handled snips before. But I kept on having to pound the edges flat with a mallet after every cut... These snips put the grips above the work peice, and thus creates better, more enjoyable cutting of your thin gauge sheet metal.

If you have to do alot of straight cuts, these snips are King Kong of the hand powered snipping world.

Once I cut the peice out i sprayed one side with weld through primer. It's cool stuff, and will save me from getting rust spots in areas I cannot see until it is too late.... (second, and third pictures)

The primer makes a nice silvery finish aswell. Loads of zinc in there... And I once heard from somebody that the more zinc the better when looking for a primer......

well here you go...

I had to remove some more metal off of the door, because it angled down into the way of the bridge piece... So I grinded it down. (first two pictures)

As you can see the grinder kinda slipped, and took a slice out of the door... I can fix that later (BONDO TO THE RESCUE!!!)

The next two pictures are of that bridge mocked up. It looks really nice with that primer on there.. Too bad I have to cover that up.

The last picture shows how much more I need to cut.

I am going to install this piece permantently tomorrow. I started a little late today, and I am running out of daylight fast. So I am packing up now, and tomorrow after work, you'll see that piece up permantly.

wow... it's been a while.

Sorry guys, I have been busy, and have only limited amounts of time after work to plug away at the truck...

I haven't taken too many pictures because the stuff I have done is slim to none, and pretty easy stuff to do. So here it is..

I filled in that sheet of metal and leveled the body off with bondo. You can also see that I have cut the wheel well opening. Enjoy the pictures. I will be getting many more things done during the weekend...
