Burnt burb resurrection (It's mine again!)

Update.

I started looking into where I could do a motor swap, and I can't use my buddy's Gma's shop any more for big stuff. I don't really have anywhere else to do it and my tiny ass garage won't do. Myself I'm not really into it that much at this point. I got all excited about it at first but the thought of pouring about 10k into it just to get it where I want kinda gets me... and really I WANT a crew cab short bed more than a burb anyway,.... always have. I got into burbs because of the idea of a MASSIVE stereo in one. Not really all that into that anymore either. I still have a sentimental attachment to it, which is why I got all excited. If I had a decent shop and such it'd probably still be a go. But in reality a motor swap, axles, zero rates and the body work that goes with are all out of my league at this point do to space and time. . I would actually like to sell it kinda just to see it go to someone who Can still save it while it's just a few holes in the rockers. But my wife says NO lol. So it'll be my backround toy that I do small bodywork projects and such too for a while. Who knows what the future will be for it. But my house, wife and little monkey come first.
I'm gradually getting back to driving it longer distances now that I trust it more. so it still may make it to some of the meet ups.... fuel injected or not lol. The motor makes some noise but not horrible. I've heard worse. It'll be fine. Just needs more miles :D.

Unfortunately it's nearly undriveable until I fix the heater core/ heater unit. Drove it to the store 2 nights ago and it was at super dangerous level window fogging in minutes.
So for now she sits..... I've been working non stop at work for 2 months now and just now it slacked off. Maybe I can get my garage clean enough to squeeze it in for the heater core job or vintage air.... we'll see

I could do that probably. I'm on vacation from the 10th to the 26th. Just not free Christmas Eve or day.
 
This thread had quite a few readers when it started kinda.... but my back and forth thought process and then lack of forward momentum kind of killed that lol. If I had a good shop and a little time it'd pick up though lol. I DO still have a chit load of tools, 6 sticks of DOM, and the skills to have some fun with it :) .. but a 26'x11.5' garage is kinda cramped for a burb getting worked on lol
 
And I spend nearly all waking moments that aren't at work with Kaz and Chrissie.... that hurts truck time too
 
She won't let me get rid of it because she wants it to be kaz's truck. Kind of like my older boys blazer. I just have to make it last long enough for him to start working on it with me lol.... that'll be a while

Yes it will be. Our youngster is nearly the same age, IIRC, but I'm sure not planning out a vehicle choice for her just yet. :haha:

My prediction is that both of our trucks rust out before our kids are old enough to be driving them on the road. :popcorn:
 
Pretty much what I was thinking.... and also the reason I can't see sinking a bunch of cash into it. I watched my dad do it with an '80 bronco. 16 years, countless hrs, and $18,000 later he sold the rusted pos for $400 cash and a $500 minivan . I don't want to follow them foot steps. I had $12,000 and untold hrs in my kids blazer too. And it went for like 4500 I think
 
I'd rather do that with a fairlane or gto or something...

Should have just kept the Blazer instead of the 'Burb... :whistle:
 
A slow project with value at the end is ok to me..... I'm actually not really into the full vert blazers too much. A scout II yes. But only because it was my first vehicle. and I couldn't keep it because by the end the whole thing pissed me off,,,, the way my kid went about crap.
 
We've looked at that. Even thinking about buying the boarded up house next door to tear down and make a shop + fenced yard. But this is the current state of our kitchen,, and that just 1 room. Only 2 of 12 rooms are ready and painted

Plus no furnace or ducting at this point.... and we owe 36k. Which is about exactly what I ha e in the place total so far, with purchase, interest and all
 
Selling isn't much of an option for a while. The house next door has leins. So it's kind of a quagmire that we aren't sure we want to get into.
 
That's why I'm concentrating on the house kinda and trying to lower my DD payment while keeping a useable truck. We want out of here.

Ding, ding, ding. This is a good idea. Get the house knocked out and get your finances back in order. There will still be trucks out there when you finally get outta there, and your stress level will drop so much it's not even funny.
