Burnt burb resurrection (It's mine again!)

I got it. I cut the cable then pried the hood up just far enough to get it out. Stripped it back and pop. Heres some pics of what I'm up against.
The hood looks supprisingly good for having a fire under it.

I got to work on cleaning up under the hood. I got a bunch of burnt stuff out. It looks like a few wires and hoses and it'll be up n running. I'm going down to the junk yard this week. Seems they have gotten a bunch of cash for clunkers in. At least they're going to good use. I hope they have one that has what I need.

I'm shooting for turning it over tomorrow:woot: there wasnt chit wrong with anything that mattered. smog stuff and A/C stuff was burnt mainly. so far I have everything I think I need to actually run it. I'll fix the A/C later. The plan is to get it all cleaned up and paint the inner fender well in the morning. then when it dries start putting it back together. I'm shooting for running and drivable first due to city crack down on in operable cars. then I'll go back through and clean up and repair anything else that needs it under the hood over time. more pics tomorrow

The burb is running.:woot::woot::woot: As of today I have 8hrs of work and just shy of $800 total in it. I just got back from the maiden voyage/beer run. Runs awesome. The only quirk I found is that the radiator leaks due to melted solder on the tank:confused:. But a new radiator will put me at a grand total so I dont mind:rolleyes:. Next up is a small lift and 33x12.5x15's. Probably going with Mickey Thompson Baja Radial ATZ's.
Soon:D

I found some zinc primer that is different from what I've seen here. But it was $5 dollars at the local Blaines Farm n Fleet. It worked pretty good. Now I gotta get the A/C parts and get that put back together. Summers coming.

did you ever find out what caused it to burn in the first place? are you planning on replacing all of the smog stuff? I don't think the engine will run right until you do......

The PO tried putting a blade on it. He didnt have hydraulics so he did it the ATV way with a winch. An ATV winch:doah:. The wires were ran through the intake hose and tophat. With no over current protection:haha: The wires burnt up and caught the intake hose and fan shroud on fire. They burned down and took a few hoses and wires along with. Nothing major, but it left me with the most pristine all original burb I've ever found for $800. Gotta love stupid people with to much money:D.

By the way, he only bought this thing to use as a plow truck:eek1:

it's definately a cool find:waytogo: It's too bad you don't live closer......I have all of the wiring, smog, etc for that motor. I even have a radiator after just going through an entire engine swap in mine. I look forward to watching for your lift....

Now on to the lift question.

I want to run a 3" system from Ord with all new springs. Mine are reverse arched just sitting on flat ground. plus a set of zero rates to move the rear axle back 1" and fight sag. Will this clear 33x12.5's on 10" rims with a 4" back space. Remember that I also have the fiberglass flare/running boards on it. The reason I'm going 10" rims is to try and bring the tire out to not quite even with the flares.

I have a 4" Rough country, but I'm running the 15x10s with 4" bs and they're perfect! Whether or not they'll fit with the running boards I don't know because I went ahead and removed mine.

WOW!!! That thing is sweet!!! What all are you putting in it from the crew cab???

I was gonna use some stuff from the crew to make it run again. But once I dug into it I decided to go to the junk yard. The crew cab is destined to be nearly identical to the one ORD built. Originally I figured I'd take all the things that were not needed to keep it running off to put in the burb. Turned out I didn't need much so I left it alone.

Oh cool lol. Well now yah just got way to many trucks haha. I got my k5 my BII, and my Van. Ugh always something to do haha. No wonder my gf just dumped me lol
