Burnt burb resurrection (It's mine again!)

Cant wait to see the thing lifted! Its going to be one sweet ass ride!
Yeah, I'm pretty stoked. It' looks like the lift is gonna be crazy expensive. but I gotta do it. I'm going to the bank tomorrow to take a loan against it. Gonna get enough to do, lift, wheels, tires, and pay off the signature loan I used to get it.
still slightly torn on the route I wanna go for a lift.

I dont quite want 4" if possible. It wont do much off road. Its mainly gonna be for looks and camping. A few rough roads getting to where I'm camping I'm sure. But no major twisting or rocks or anything. Right now the rear springs still have a posative arc, but it still sags horribly. The front springs are negative arc and sitting high:dunno: I was looking at doing a mismatch of parts.

Skyjacker softride 2.5" front springs
2.5" ord flip kit and zero rates for the rear
and 1" longer rear shackles to make the rear a full 4" if needed
stainless braided brake lines
not sure on shocks (havent researched any yet)
all new bushings

According to the tech section on CK5's home page and other places I have found. 2.5 is all thats needed. But thats not taking the 10" wheels and my flares into consideration either. I figured if 2.5 wont do it on the front I'll stick a set of zero rates up there to. then I'll have 3.5". I know that will fit. If I have to trim the flares a little I will. They are coming off eventually cause I want to paint it. But for now I want to leave them alone.

they did a 4" rear with the shackle flip and 3" front TC.........and they have over $1000 invested

I have a 4" RC, soon to be 4" rear ORD shackle flip..........and I have less than $800 invested

My kit came with everything they have listed on their parts list.......

I had to purchase the ORD rear shackle kit.......$189 and their extended brake lines that were $120. My RC 4" lift was $350 shipped! AND it came with an extended steering arm, shocks, and new U-bolts.......then I purchased a RC steering stabilizer too!

the only other difference was that I got the RC swaybar re-location kit instead of the ORD swaybar disco kit and I put on Rancho add-a-leafs to the rear that gave me the extra support and rear lift needed to be level.

Not sure about the boards, I did the 4" rough country springs front, blocks rear w/ 33's and the tires look really small.

I was running the 33's before the lift, but no running boards, and didn't have much rubbing that I noticed. I did see some marks on the inside of the rear wheel wells.

You can use brake lines from a similar year 2wd, they were like $20 a piece new, if you want more info, I'll get you a part number.

you may not need new shocks, my understanding is that the lift companies will push 'lifted' shocks but in many cases you don't need them.

since you're in iowa, have you looked at the DIY 4x for their shackle flip?

I'm kinda trying to shy away from the shackle flip. I dont mind paying the extra for springs. but I may still look into 'em amyway. I just know that my springs are obviously weekened. and I want to tow with it eventually. I'm thinking of puting 3/4 ton lift springs in the rear. I'm not sure if thats a bolt in thing or not. But that should fight some sag and give me some more payload cap. I'll be loading it up for camping trips and using it like a pickup to get plywood and other lumber for my current house remodel (one more on going project. A much slower one:rolleyes:) If the 3/4's wont work I'll just put air helpers in:dunno:

The 33's do look small on a 4" lift. I've noticed that. I dont want to trim steel for the tires to fit. but if I have to do minimal stuff I"ll just make do till I'm ready to paint it. I have no reservation on trimming the boards.

Rough country does ride stiff just so you know. Tuff Country has the ez-rides and those are known to ride the best next to custom springs. The soft ride on skyjackers are good too.

I would go with tough country all spring lift. You are going to want to replace the rear springs. When I bought my truck it had blocks in it and original springs and ended up breaking. I'm talking about the main leaf cracked at the eye and broke off.

Go ez ride front 3" and a 4" hd rear springs

that sounds like pretty close to what i want. I was thinking of the superride 2.5" fronts with superride 4"s in rear. if it aint level I can add a 1/2" to the front with shackles. the superrides are only $500 for all 4 springs at summit

They are the nomad series from summit. Pretty cheap too.

edit: these arte the tires I'm going with. Mickey thomsen baja ATZ

steering correction

What will I need for steering correction with 3" lift.

I think with 3" you could probably get away with no correction if you wanted to. Also, nice choice on tires.
