Burnt burb resurrection (It's mine again!)

I was out there the first 10 min shakin and messing with all the wires and never faultered........ we need a fingers crossed smiley lol

it ran nearly an hr along side the house.... shut it off myself to go to work... I'm not celebrating $H!T till it drives a few days lol... it hasnt ran more than about 10 minutes (and that was once) in months. it died one time right after i started it about 5 minutes in. I was up in ther trying to put the air cleaner on... It didnt seem to kill the same way... so i tried it and it started right up.... thats when i decided to wiggle and play with EVERYTHING and it never faultered.... so i finished puting the air cleaneron, locked the doors and let it idle for another 45 min. The dying thing may have had something to do with all new sensors and a new ECM trying to lear eachother :dunno: didnt sound the same like i say... dunno.

went to try it today and had a flat dead battery...:doah: didn't do anything to the positive wires so was stumped.... then remembered that I jumpered the oil pressure switch and forgot to remove it yesterday:rolleyes: I HOPE that's what brought the battery down..... charging now to see

just drove it for about an hr....:D im not callin it fixed cause im not gonna jinx it, but its a LOT better than before:waytogo:

Kermitflail YAY!!!

:haha:

I drove it the 15 miles to work tonight.... Had one odd spot when it almost died at an intersection and i realized it was something else.... vac line came apart:rolleyes: bout cried till i gave it some gas and it came out of it. pulled off and checked that vac line.... (its came off before) time to replace it

started right up this morning and drove me home without issue:thumb: LOVIN IT!

now I can concentrate on a few things that needed done before all this.... Headlight mod and wiper relay not working are at the TOP of the list..... cant see shat while driving at night or in rain.... then combine the 2:doah:

sad part is for what I have in pieces trying to fix a free fix I could have bought another 5.3 for it:rolleyes: FACK! oh well :haha:

been driving it to work, around town, and some urban backroad wheelin with great results... it has died a few times when idling for a while (warming up in AM, waiting for a train) but It started right up and drove away each time. seems to idle a little weird... I'm guessing it still has to do with throwing all them new sensors and computer on at once... :dunno: never really noticed it before all this. but

IT RUNS! :waytogo:

man I missed it..... it seems a little rough around the edges and way underpowered after driving my rav4 around for so long though:doah: But i'm still happy:D if I got aff my a$$ and got the rav advertised then I wouldn't have it to compare to all the time lol

this thing scared the h3ll out of me this morning  driving to work holding a steady 55 so the rpms were kinda low and it sputtered a few times and just fell off n died.... had to put it in neutral and restart it while rolling. then it sorta lost power for a sec one other time.... wasn't the same type of dying though.... felt different... almost fuel related... the second time when I felt it happen I stuck my foot in it and it came right out of it... :dunno: its scaring me now lol... I knew I shouldn't have declared it fixed:rolleyes:

Ive decided to stay with the original setup in this truck for a while... got too much money in the system now to throw it away :haha: So the little issues im having yet will require more knowledge, parts, and tools for future use. it still dies randomly but now can be attributed to fuel since if I catch it in time and pump it, it will come out of it. so I'll start another thread all about data logging and learning OBD systems, Etc. and post here on my progress with rebuilding the TBI, doing the rest of the ultimate tbi mods, and the other mods I plan on doing for whatever I can squeeze out of this motor.

If you are really going to stay with a GEN I small block and TBI, I would look for a different blocks, and assemble a roller shortblock for next to nothing.
