Burnt burb resurrection (It's mine again!)

Burnt burb resurrection: (getting somewhere with tunerpro)

The spark advance doesn't work. Eagle mark was working on it. O2 should bounce up and down during rich/lean conditions. Also it did go closed loop before it got to temp. That is weird to me.

I wondered what was supposed to change it to closed. I'll have to see if it'll stay running and log while driving once.... I'd like to be logging it when it dies. I have the stuff to carb it now just waiting... but I wanna try and fix this still.... call it a determination or vendetta I guess:haha: Im NOT buying crap for it unless its a 99% sure thing that I've found the bad part.

Not playin with it any more... still same chit.... so this is gonna happen, along with the holley truck avenger from my sons old 72

now a question....... Is the stock fuel pump fine as long as I put in a regulator with a return line out? and if so what pressure works well for a carb'd setup?

all I've ever done on my past carb'd stuff in buy a mechanical pump and hook it direct. so:dunno:

All the pressure a carb needs is 6-7psi. So I would imagine a good regulator on that would bring it down. After all, you're only talking coming down 7-8psi depending on what you're pressure is now.

Stock fuel pump should be ok although you MIGHT need to wire it to a relay since the computer might not run it properly anymore.

thanks for the pressure info:waytogo:

and yeah I was gonna relay it.
Anyone know what the factory fitting size/ type at the tbi is.... I can look it up, just thought one of you may know off hand... I'll try and keep those lines intact if possible.. not sure if I can even though.....

secondly, will the tbi cam be fine........ I hope so lol..

Now that I think about it, I have a couple threads on this same swap saved.... I have some reading to do lol.

got this far last night...... Im SO gonna be p1$$ed if this don't do it and it ends up being something stupid simple:rolleyes::haha: this only took an hr including lookin for tools.... should go back together easy enough

check out the cobwebs:rolleyes: and the fact that the front of the motors wet even though it hasn't started in months:dunno:

im going to hold onto the stuff for a bit then maybe sell it yeah.

I dont have any idea what else it could have been except a part of the tbi system... maybe just a broken wire even... but i dont know:dunno: gas was gotten from 3 different places during the time it started messing up and 2 bottles of heat have been through it. I ran gas out of the line for a while in a bucket and let it sit to look for separation, and It had 12v to the coil. still died whenever the h3ll it felt like it. and got worse as it went.

good gas, proper timing and 12v to the coil is all it will need now. dont have any idea why it WOULDNT run this way:dunno:

I have a couple complete TBI setups kicking around if you want one.

Hopefully the carb fixes it for you. But I bet it won't :haha:

I have no need for the tbi stuff, but am just curious what it is. Was going to ohm out the harness and try running the ecm on my engine.

Hoping it works out for ya. Did you decide that you're keeping this truck or selling it?

yep... Carb it gets:D Keeping it I guess.... F*** it:waytogo:

And not going to chase the rust. my long term plans that I had planned before wont be affected by it.

I decided to save myself $25 and made my own part. Holley sells a TV cable adapter bracket for proper geometry when using their throttle cable/TV cable mount. I used the pic from the site, blew it up till the holes matched the proper measurement, and measured out where the TV cable attachment stud goes. Then made one at work:D

I already have the studs I need. Only real thing im missing so far to make this run is the regulator.... that's more expensive than I figured on:doah:

I think I have a regulator that I used with a Holley truck avenger and a tbi fuel pump.will that work?

Something like this

I got it all put back together tonight and started it right up......runs smooth as silk and hasn't tried to die yet.... it seems hot as h3ll though :dunno:

its hot enough that you cant touch the carb even, without it suprising you. gauge reads like 185 though..?

idle is high though even after backing the screw all the way out.... and its smoking out the tail pretty good....

I don't know my fuel pressure yet because I don't have a fitting to screw it into.... and its setting at about 10* btdc with the vac advance hose pulled n plugged.

I don't know much on the carb side of things. it ran great on my kids truck and no adjustments have been made. but high idle and excess heat are signs of running lean right...?
