Well I heard back from a bunch of people that were no use. One HR person suggested I move to ASPEN!!!! to avoid a paycut. Not that I would live there anyways, but the cheapest house there is 670 square feet and costs almost $400,000 No thanks.
Just 2 days ago I finally heard back from an HR manager who was actually willing to help. It turns out I will have to take a paycut.... of about $1.50/hr. Yeah I think I can handle that. Some comparisons between Colorado Springs and Hartford, CT shows that the Springs has a cost of living that is about 20% lower, and employers on average pay 15% less. So you're already ahead of the game. I am looking at a 5-8% cut. They won't be looking for any new hires this year, but they might take a transfer, and she is hinting that she will recommend me.
This might actually happen.
