Camaro my Brother gave me

Some shots of the frame work.

So far I've got the rear cross member in, main frame rails, front cross member and the rocker bars. Pics not in the correct order.

4 link floor braces are tacked in and working on the center X brace now.

Woah, first time seeing this build. Going to have to keep watching now.

Did you keep the VIN on the dash?

Nope, that's like an extra half ounce. LOL!!

Getting some welds done on the chassis. Not a fun thing. Very uncomfortable welding most of the time. A lot of moving around keeping the heat down to a minimum. Decided i'll do the minimum amount of welding until the chassis can be separated from the body and set up on a rotisserie for final welding.

Cant remember if Ive asked you this before but are you doing chromo? I saw you mig tac'd everything but now I see you're tig'ing it so wasn't sure. The mig is so nice for an easy tac but I just cant stand how it screws the tig bead up.

Looks like its really shaping up though. Do you have an ET goal?

I do a tac with the mig from time to time. I only have so many hands and some things just don't clamp well. It is Chromo. My little 110v welder turned down does barely enough actual welding to just hold the tube. wire in it is same grade as the tig filler. I know some guys think its a sin to tac with the mig but I don't worry about that so much.

Yeah Im not implying a little mig tac is going to ruin chromo, I was just curious on a separate note. I've noticed mig tacks do funk up a tig bead. I did some reading and apparently the co2 from the mig impregnates the weld with impurities that goof the tig process up. Ive done it a million times too. Like you said sometimes just not enough hands.

I like to start my tig on top of the mig tac whenever possible to let that argon do its cleaning action thing and get a good fuse going from one tube to the other. Kinda helps with that. I hate running over a tac anytime on any part. Its annoying. Almost impossible for it not to make some kinda bump in the weld pass.

Got some sheetmetal work done. All rust repair which wasn't much is done now as well.

Decided to put in a huge drain plug. Its like 1.5". Sort of regretting that now.

ill have to give that a shot. Looking good.

I think i'll order up a fiberglass deck lid today. That way in between chassis bars I can work on that and finish out the rear lexan window and maybe get a wing designed.
