All true and good points.
I bet my engine is about the same as lutz. Maybe even further back.
Its possible, what actually matters is the engine relative to the wheelbase and the front wheels, not the cowl. So if you are stretching the front wheels forward more that will put more weight on the back and that does help out no doubt, not only with that but with track handling. Although it appears the front his engine block is approximately even with the back of the front tires.
folkenheath, have you ever run some numbers regarding moving an engine back and how much it changes weight bias and so on?
There used to be a saying, taking your battery out of the front and putting it in the back is like moving your engine back 2". Its actually pretty close.
This will have alumjnum heads eventually.
I haven't done the math on that, probably isn't far off, but most drag cars at that level do both. Moving the battery back is one of the first things you do. Although these days they have some crazy light batteries, but I can't afford them.
The only reason I used Lutz's car as an example is because its so famous and easy to find pictures of. If you compare to his other one he built before, it appears to be a foot further back or more, although the new one is made for no prep crap so it may be too far for real race tracks. Somewhere in between might be best for real race tracks. Yours looks more similar to this one below from where the wheels appear to be.
I look forward to seeing your car at the track, should be a blast to drive. The car is awesome either way so don't think I am being negative, just trying to keep you on your toes so it turns out the best possible for you.
