Can anyone prove GM used ATF in an NP205?

yep drained it from my 40k mile original k30 205 tcase .

and its been shown as spec in the service books .

I am aware of that. I want a picture or a link to prove it to someone else.

In the 1972 truck service manual it says sae 80 or 90 gl-5 gear lubricant.

Do you need it to say np205 specifically? Or knowing that it was one of the tcases offered that year enough?

eh...my old 1975 manual says SAE 80, SAE 90 GL-5 gear lubricant

Im almost positive they do not use ATF! I can not find my manual that states it but i will keep looking All my manuals or for 208 and 241 as those are the cases i have which use ATF. I have contacted GM and they said all prior T-cases used gear oil

Im positive the 208 and 241 use ATF All my manuals say ATF dex 2 or 3

I read that all NP205 cases up to and including 1981 used Gear Oil
and all NP205 cases from 1982 on used ATF

There was some kind of design change made to the NP205 after 1981

Pretty certain that is when the synchro NP205 was introduced.

I have a factory service manual for my '91, I'm pretty sure it spec'd ATF. I'll find it and post up the info tomorrow.

Yes, that is what it was...they were synchronized

I think somebody already said it...the deal is that synchronized NP205 uses ATF and non-synchonized NP205 uses gear oil
