Just put in the 14bff and D44 in my 89 today. Mounted them up, but still have alot to do. The brake lines, the rear proportioning valve, shocks, ord steering brace and weld in brace, hella lights, aux cooling fans, etc... But these are a few of the first pics from when I finished up tonight. Got the Baja claws on and she's starting to look good. I'll have some more pics when it's daylight

Lookin tough, How long did it take? Dont forget to have a master cylinder/power booster on hand. Youll probobly need it.

Lookin good. I see you quickly removed the pic with your G/F or wife in it. :D

Yeah, that other pic sneaked in there somehow:D It took me by myself about 5-6 hrs to swap the axles in, but that's all I did was bolt them up to the leaf springs and slap on the tires. The master cylinder/power booster:confused:, I guess I don't have one. Would it be worthwhile to go ahead and install the proportioning valve on the rear valve or just wait n see if it needs it?

man that stance is looking good on there. what backspacing on your rims and how wide?

are your degree shims necessary on thr front axle like that? definately gonna watch this thread.

they're 12in wide rims with 2.75 backspacing with 38x15.50x15 Claw Radials. I put the shims in with my zero rates cuz of the long shackles I have on the front. They might not be necessary but I didn't like the pinion angle the shackles gave me so I just put them in their to correct it

Looks good, wait and see what happens with the brakes, the mc you have right now might work, if not then you can get one, mine worked with the d44 and 14 bolt, then i went to a 60 and disks in the rear, thats when i had problems.

took some pics of my k5 in the light yesterday. Hopefully I'll have time next week to finish it. i'm itching to put it in some mud :D

Your mc shaft is used to a certain amount of "throw" when pushing on your brakes. it knows the old lines, cylinders, calipers, etc. Once you put in these new parts it all changes. The shaft cant push as far as the steel braided brake lines I assume you installed, Also the amount of pressure your new brakes require. Hold that thought, Be right back.............

so a new mc for a k5 will work and have the power to work the brakes? I don't have the braided stainless lines, back when I first lifted my K5 6in I just used the lengthened ones that came with my kit. I need to get some put my budgets stretched right now from having to rebuild my D44. About a yr ago I replaced the mc, do you think it would still need replacing?

That thing looks sweet. Same paint scheme as my 87 Jimmy, but backwards. Looks nice and has an awesome stance. Did you build that front bumper?

it's got about 7in. front-4in spring, zero rate, 7.25 shackle. Rear-shackle flip, addaleaf, 1.25in block. No I didn't build it. Found the piece of c-channel, and got the pushbar off an Isuzu Rodeo that was wrecked, and told a local welder what I wanted. Can't believe I'm using something off an Isuzu:D

Best way to tell if you need a new mc is to wait for the BRAKE light to come on once finished with you project.

Well, I pushed the tires full left and right once I put the front end and tires on and there's a little bit of scrubbage at full turn. i don't really think my steering will turn that sharp when I hook it all up but I'll probably have to do a little fender trimming (as much as I hate to trim the virgin fenders I have:()

My 89 is finally moving again! Though I still have to tweak a couple things. Here are a few pics (sorry about the quality, had to use my phone).

as you can see I had to do a little :hack:on the front fenders. Then need a little more trimming now cuz the crossover steering turns sharper, but I hate to do it.

looking good and about the master and the brakes, well you might as well install the prop valve in the rear now and see how it all works first before you go tearing into it lol.
