carps 89 K5 build (how not to put a k5 on a trailer)

Yean man let me know if your interested. I'll keep you in mind when the time comes. We always have a blast, they have a live band Sat. night with prizes and lots of rigs there.

I guessing ur stock MC will work. I have an 1/2 ton 87 that I dropped the D60 and 14FF w/disc into and didn't have to change out the MC. It actually stopped much better!

mine seems to be working fine right now, but the rears don't seem to be grabbing that hard. think i'm gonna put a disc/disc combination valve on instead of the stock disc/drum one and see if that helps

you know it's bad when your k5 hasn't even see dirt and you have to do recovery:doah:.

Wet trailer + k5 with no 4wd = problem

I borrowed my buddy's tractor tractor trailer to haul my k5 to the garage to get the head gaskets replaced when we encountered a problem. It had drive over fenders that were wet cuz it was raining. So I don't have a front driveshaft yet so I figured I'd set some blocks in front of the fenders and give the truck a little gas to get the front tires over them. Well it slipped off the trailer and we spent about an hour getting it back on. Had to high lift the tire back up and then had to stack blocks up underneath it to slide it back onto the trailer all the while my buddy trip in the picture was holding the brake to keep the high lift jack from kicking out.

Well we got it back on and got it to the garage thru the rain. we got it off the trailer and I realized I had no steering. Evidently my YJ staft had seized up and didn't telescope so when the tire slipped off the trailer the shaft basically slipped out of joint at the top. So in the pouring rain I had to pull the shaft beat the piss out of it with a hammer and some WD-40 to get it back sliding. Anyway when I get it back form the shop I'm gonna take a couple pieces of left over steel and weld the knuckle to the upper sleeve so this doesn't happen again. I don't know if that makes since but i'll show you and take some pics when I get it back. Don't know if anybody else has ever had this problem, but might be something you might wanna watch out for

on a side note, will a 04-05 1 ton dodge's wheels fit on a chev? Are they're the same 8x6.5? My buddy is selling the wheels he has on the dodge in the picture and as much as I dislike chrome, I like his and he's selling them to me REALLY cheap. They're 18x9 (unsure of BS) but I figure it they work I can put some street tires on them and save my claws for the trail. When I get it back from the shop we're gonna pull a tire off and put it on the k5 and see if it works, but I figured you guys might know

ohh i just had a trailer mishap today, way worse than yours though....
