carps 89 K5 build (how not to put a k5 on a trailer)

i no this might be kind of obivious, but spray some carb/choke around ur intake manifold/TBI base and see if the idle changes if u cant get it down with the way u saw in the other thread.

I'm gonna try tomorrow. Gonna go ahead and replace the gasket under the TBI and double check all lines to try and find a vacuum leak, but I really don't think there's one. But fixing a vacuum leak would be alot easier. Hopefully it's some simple line I missed

*Update*
Fixed the high idle problem. Replaced the gaskets under the spacer and TBI along with thoroughly cleaning the TBI and replacing the IAC valve. Runs great now, idles at about 900RPM and shifts good. It is a little sticky going into first gear (not granny) and I think that's mainly due to the throw of my clutch pedal (it's gotta be on the floor to fully disengage) but runs great. Got the front shock tabs all welded up and drives pretty damn smooth to tell you the truth and it is alot softer than before. I guess the combination of the 52s and 56s and the Bilsteins. But it's not really that bad at all. Going tomorrow to my buddies shop and we're gonna do the exhaust and finally get my front gears set up correctly.

Also one of the Warn Premiums wasn't working correctly so I talked to my buddy manager at NAPA and he's hooking me up with a new set since they're lifetime warranty. YES, gotta love freebies:D. So after tomorrow the only thing I'll be waiting on it to get my front dshaft and I can finally have some fun. Of course I still don't have any lockers, but I'll get to that later. Here's a couple pics of how she's sitting now

hopefully. My plan is to get it as trail ready as possible for the spring. Gotta save up for lockers now and prob gonna buy a winch come tax return season and a couple bumpers

Been driving the Blazer a pretty good bit and took it on a long ride to my parents house for thanksgiving and decided to check the MPG with my GPS and man was I surprised! 13mpg:eek1::laugh:! I figured this beast would get 10 or less considering it has the basic aerodynamics of a jacked up brick:D. But I filled it up, drove it right at 70 miles and it only used 5.38 gallons when I topped it back off. Gonna check it again and i'll let you know cuz that still seems pretty high for a K5 on 38s running 65-70.

Other than that the truck is running great. Took me a minute to figure out the clutch adjustment (now I feel dumb:doah:) but I think I have a bad u joint somewhere and I have an exhaust leak that is annoying the hell out of me. Gonna replace the header gasket tomorrow and see if that resolves the problem

I like Blazenoffroad's front bumpers, but I'm gonna see about just making a simple tube rear that'll wrap around the corners. Either that or talk to Kert once I figure out what I want

Decided to do some "faux" wheelin this morning when I got off work. They're tearing down an old building behind my house I so figured I'd try and flex it a little. Really haven't done much else with my truck lately. Just been trying to gather parts. Bought a detroit for the rear and a lock right for the front from a couple members on here. Soon as they get here gonna instal them and finally get my front d shaft made. Gotta talk to Kert here soon cuz I gotta order a couple things and also had an idea for what I guess you'd call a "body slider":D. Other than that I've just been playing alot of paintball and working. Gotta get my butt back in gear working on my K5. Hopefully in a couple weeks i'll have some more stuff to update

yeah, sadly that's the most wheeling I've done in years:haha::crazy::(. My goal is to have it 4 wheel ready by mid-late April. Got on the Georgia Trail Runners forum and Georgia Bounty Runners forum to try and plan a trail run when I get her finished because there is NOBODY around me that actually wheels. Alot of prissy heeps, IFS rigs with 6in body lifts, etc.... seem to be the only rides near me.

Talked to my best friends room mate, who's a Caterpillar mechanic, and I think I've got him talked into helping me fab a rollcage. Just gotta bribe him with a lot of cold, frosty beverages:D

I wish my K5 could wheel right now cuz I could have some fun on all the concrete and dirt they've got behind my house.

Let me know when your ready to go.I think May 1-3 there is an annual ride in Milledgevelle that we go to every year. The more the better. Not sure how far that is for you, but would be worth the ride. Check out RiverRockORV.com

thanks for the link man. Definitely will check it out. Milledgeville is only about 2hrs from me I believe. It's not that far. I'll probably shoot you a pm
