Chevysmithz71 Later Thread:Trip pics

Just started stuffing it in today. Definetly making the xmember. Looks like a nice 2x3 will work with the np205 bushings to fit over. Making one for the rear as well. There are holes that are tapped for the right idea. There is a lot of cutting, raising, lowering and cutting.

Well, got some cutting done. Still need to trim some to raise it a little more. Ran into a snag on the seat tubes running along the floor. Would be nice to raise it more but the things got in the way. Though it is Flat underneath.

nice!!

just keeping on the doubler thing for thoose that are interested...

im running a doubler with tripple stick,513s,44s and a 700r4....i keep ,mine in lo lock all the time..thats why i have overdrive :)

This has been one tricky crossmember. Its all tacked together until I get the new mig. Now that it' up there I'll start the floor. Kinda worried about the tube holding, but im sure it can take it.

ok try that. I have never had this problem before. Someone can bring the pics to see without a direct link if they're bored.

Well, do you guys think it will hold up. It's all 1 3/4 .120 wall. The Stak is 150lbs and just a little weight from the th400. I think the double mount will help a bunch.

One thing I am really curious about is how the poly mounts are going to hold up against exhaust heat. They are going to be real close.

Dude I think the weight is no problem at all and the heat from the trans is less important than the routing of the exhaust which you'll have to be creative with. Keep it about 2" away from the bushings and not toughing the crossmember and the bushings new your golden. All in all - the transfer case crossmember(s) look great!

Well there is no way that I can keep it 2" away on the pass. side. It is so tight with evrything. The bushings are new. The only thing I can think of is wraping the exhaust with a header wrap near the bushings and all under the belly pan I plan on fitting on. It would help with the heat near the cab-feet also.
Good Idea or Bad Idea????

You're definitely going to have challenges with exhaust routing....

I'd do all the exhaust work first, get your bends figured out and such...then take the exhaust somewhere that can ceramic coat it for you. Inside and out would be awesome if they can do it. Keep that heat contained for as long as possible....better scavenging, and less problems with melted bushings, hot fuel lines, etc.

:usaflag:
