CK5 Shops & Garages

I've been working that pretty much. my shop that I'm working on the K5 is 18' wide, but has 28" workbench's on one side, and with the toolbox and cabinets hanging off the wall on the other side its down to about 14' of useable floor for width, and that's ok to work in.

Good to know, THANKS! Preliminary plans are for it to be 36' deep so I can put all the benches, compressor, tool box, etc in the far end and keep roughly the first half clear for just the K5. I wish I could go wider but it is what it is and it's all better than working outside like I do now. :doah:

I work out of my garage. It is 24x24. It is a wreck in these pics. I usually keep it a lot cleaner. Just moved everything around to make room for a transmission vat. & in the middle of overhauling a 4l60e. It was raining so I only got close up pics.

Mine is 24x32x8
The biggest thing I would change because of my age is to put in a lift, of course that would require 12' walls but that would be welcome too.
I wish I had more room overall, as I use 1/2 of it to store toys in the winter, so actual shop space is down to 18x24.
I have electric heat which is worth every penny. Also have air for hot humid MI days.
I have insulated walls and ceiling, with a ceiling fan in each to distribute the heat evenly.
I have 100 amps to my service panel, plenty for anything I want to do out there.

This is an interior shot which shows the OSB wall covering and one of two electric heaters

This is an exterior shot....local code limited the size to 24x32 in front of the house, and required same siding and roof as the residence

Why does this 63 not have a split rear window? Or should I say who put a 63 nose on a 64-67 car?

Never mind had a brain fart. I forgot that the 64 had the same side vents as 63. For some reason I was thinking that the 64 had the same 3 paneled vent like 65-66.

Man now that I think of it 64 is really the bastard year no body wants lol.

30x40x12 with two 10x10 doors and a walk thru. Plan on putting a lift in. Havent even had time to get it wired yet so I'm not in it as much as I would like to be. I wish I would have put a vent or another walk thru or overhead door in the rear for some more airflow. Other that that I'm very happy with it. I've got a "2" car garage on the house too, but its barely big enough for my Syclone and a quad.

I just noticed this picture is before they poured the slab. There is concrete. I'm not putting a lift in the dirt :haha:

I'd be quite happy to have a 1964 Corvette......

Martin

Yea no doubt. Theyre just kinda the bastard midyear in the collectors eyes. 63 is the one year off mode, 65 is the only year for 396, 66 is the first year 427, and 67 is like the holy grail.

66 has always been my fave...

I redid a 67 427 for my boss once..

Yeah if one was shopping for a midyear, the 64 generally isn't very desirable compared to the others, but for 3K (in 82) I couldn't pass it up, and I only have 30K into it over all the years I've had it, restored it, changed it, up to its present state.

Them are all nice vettes. As for garages I cant even get a vette in mine I dont think. The green ladder on the right is tied flat against the wall, and I'm standing tight into the corner at the back wall.

With the 427 hood too:

I dont blame you for snatching that up... They put that hood on the 65 396 cars too.

you seem to have some knowledge of the midyears, whats your background on em?

I lived em since I was a kid....my first was a 71, and I worked it over and got this 64 as a driver, but needing a lot of work.

Im a big time gm guy. Corvettes arent personally my thing but my dad is huge on them. I work in a mid year specialized resto shop. We do alot of high end cars for bloomington and NCRS events as well as other classics.

Rotisserie restos, frame off, remake the car nicer than it was kinda thing.

Currently me and a buddy are sporting a small 25x25 steel building but I can't complain since it's got an alarm and my project and tools are all safe, protected from weather and locked up.

It's finally my turn to contribute! :woot:

I ended up with a pole barn, 18'x36'x14' with 12'x12' roll up door. Still have to add a loft in the back (this week) and then electrical.

I can't decide if you made a huge truck look small,
or a huge barn look small.........

This picture is really screwing w/ my head.

Little two car garage at the new place. Twice the garage (and then some) that I have now. I'm thinking that since the ends and doors need replaced anyways, I'd pull off the roof and lay 5-6 more rounds of block to increase the height of it then put the top back on using the original rafters and such. It's all in really good shape and I think I could add enough height to make use of a two post lift or at least be able to get the K5 in there.
