Clifford Project - '88 Cummins CrewCab

Denny t pin is worth the money, stage 2 is easily driveable so if you get one go that route.

Truck looks great i'm very jealous.

I've seen those on the cummins forums. I have somewhat of a hard start issue still. It cranks for 3-8 seconds before firing, seems worse when it's warm. I'm kind of thinking it might be the injection pump so I'm holding off on any IP mods until I'm sure on that. I know one thing, a 3k gov spring is definitely in it's future. 2nd gear is almost worthless at this point.

Did you get those Baja's from Trail Worthy?

Picked them up from Dealer's Tire Supply in Phoenix.

Great stuff man. Excited for more pics. Love how generous this community is:waytogo:

I've known Aaron for 9 years now. We went to Wyotech together and were roommates for a while. I agree with you though. I've seen similar deals time and time again on here over the years with guys who barely know each other.

This looks familiar :pimp:

The fuel pin and springs are WAY worth it, just be aware that you may start barking the turbo and you'll have to upgrade the compressor wheel.

It's a slippery slope but worth it, nice job on the truck :thumb:

YUP.
my 91.5 got the springs, and the pin, and stock fueling was enough to scoot that little bastard all over town. plus you can get some decent 40hp injectors for less than $300. but i'm sure you'll figure all of these things out after you get it running gooder

So I'm a week into the truck and I'm having charging issues. I think it's the wiring to the alternator. Although the tranny has taken a ****. 2nd and 3rd are chattering pretty bad. So that gives me some downtime to do some wiring. The wiring is not quite a nightmare under the hood, but far from clean. I just need to open up all the looms and see what's what along with re-wiring the alternator.

As for the trans, I want to do an NV4500 swap, but that's going to run almost double what a replacement Getrag and clutch is. So for now, I'm going to get a rebuilt Getrag and probably a South Bend. I'm also going to change the pilot bushing to a bearing and have the flywheel machined to fit it. Then the only issues I should worry about are keeping it overfull and the mainshaft bearing preload.

On to some pics.

Start with the interior. There is a dash pad but it's cut to fit around the 1980's gauges. I got my new gauge in the other day, so I'm going to get a new pad. Dash is pretty beat.

I hate the seat covers. They don't make the saddle blankets like I remember them being when I was a kid. These things will not stay on for the life of me.

The rear seat has a front seat frame under it so it sits a few inches forward of where it should, therefore leaving not much for legroom in the rear.

RuffStuff diff covers front and rear. You'll see that I now have a 13bolt in the rear as one of the bolt holes didn't line up so I had to leave it out.

The solution to the clutch reservoir. Tracking down hose that could stand up to the brake fluid was a pia.

The inlet adapter for the air filter.

The motor mounts and crossmember are pretty beefy. Would have been nice if they painted them before dropping the motor in.

The radiator is the original Dodge unit along with part of the Dodge core support. Fan has plenty of clearance and the shroud fits really well.

The crossmember we built for the t-case. The center section is part of the original '72 Dodge crossmember. The rest of it is 2.5" angle and 1.5" tube.

The original cross member for the Turbo 400, Turbo 400 mount and a piece of 3/8"s plate to mount the tranny to the rubber mount.

Is the transfer case moved over to the drivers side to make room for the exhaust?

I`ve got a set of seat brackets for the back seat.
I parted out a 3+3 last year, the put the back seat in my 77.
You can have the brackets if you want them.

^^ Thanks. Do they break down for shipping?

Well a little update. I found a killer deal on a an NV4500 swap that I couldn't pass up for the $ difference. The tranny is being built right now, should have it mid next week. Just ordered a 3200 gov spring and Denny T Stg II pin. Ordering a Valair 13" Kevlar/Ceramic Button clutch shortly.

gaaaaahhhh, i love this truck. something like this would be my daily driver for the rest of my life. how do you like those tires?

Can you guys utilize the flat rate shipping? Anyway, let me know how much for shipping to 80005 and a beer for yourself and I'll get a MO or something to ya.

If you like pm me your address, then I can go to the post office and they can tell me how much it`ll cost to ship to you.

I`ve never shiped anything to the states, but it shouldn`t be too bad.

I really don't know yet. They have good highway manners. Might be able to add a couple ounces of bb's to smooth them out a bit more, but they're not bad considering the size. They have about 8oz each in them now.

They do suck on slushy/icy stuff. I imagine they'll be good in mud. We'll see how they are in snow.

Did you just use airsoft bb's?
