some 35" toyo mt's, stock wheels. leave the color, I like it, 4 lightforce lights and a 16500 warn in the push bumper. loud exhaust and a set of train horns. i would get nervous seeing that in my rearview mirror, it screams get out of the way i am coming through.

eventual cummins, nv4500 swap.

So, I started the carb swap last night. I knew I'd need some fitting or some little piece to make everything hook up and around here, if you don't have it Saturday morning you won't have it till Monday.

That being said, swapping from the Demon to the quadrajet was pretty straight forward. One of the simpler carb swaps I've done. Only real catch I ran into was the port I wanted to use for hooking up the transmission is 1/8" and the trans vaccum is 3/16". I did find an adapter so other than a delay it was no big deal.

Problems I was experiencing with the Demon and looking to solve with the swap,

Loading up at idle.
Loading up at slow speeds.
Horrible fuel mileage.
Not so good of throttle response.


The throttle response and loading up problems I think have been eliminated. First thing I noticed was the throttle response. It's right there. Very crisp. Fuel mileage will take a while to tell I'm sure but I can't see it getting any worse. So far I'm really happy I made the swap. I think the Demon would be great for something that goes a 1/4 mile at a time. Not so good for something that you need to be mild mannered.

Jet performance did the quadrajet rebuild and I'd recommend them to anybody.

I just did a rebuild on mine. For some reason it'd load up too and I took a screw out that didn't need to come out for tha manual choke and lost the rod that operates the choke :doah: Either way i'm super happy with the rebuild. Now to tune it right and get the choke hooked up I should be good to go.

I had a guy tell me to throw an edelbrock on it yesterday. I just laughed at him. :D While I liked the one edelbrock I had i'll never go out and buy one

I had an edelbrock on my blazer. Seemed to be a good carb too. Never had any complaints with it actually.
 
So today I got to find out the hard way, what happens when you burst a pressure line for the power steering. This is also a hydroboost brake system. It kinda sucks. Approx. 50 miles from home when it happened. Makes for a long drive.

Pretty much in the middle of a fairly busy metro area when it happened. Luckily I was out of the way enough to pop the hood, take a quick look around, determine what had happened, grab a snipper and chop the belt to keep from burning up the pump. Close the hood, and get back underway. The huge power steering fluid puddle on the street was kind of a dead give away. That and having some pretty stubborn steering all led to the same conclusion.

The rest of the trip I think I upset some drivers by taking my sweet ass time. But hey, better late than never I guess.
 
Nope, nothing out of the ordinary happening. I'd chalk it up to age but outside of that I got nothing.

Depending on what line it is I may have one I could send ya off the 1-ton I tore apart. Unless you go and buy another one that is.

Actually, I ordered two new ones this morning. Both the pressure lines that is. Thanks for the offer though. I figure if I replace these, one less thing that is 25 years old.

Ya know, it was one of those things I knew I needed to go ahead and replace so I just got them on order. Can't imagine them being more than 25 ish. I'll let you know on Monday.
 
I had a line blow on me once. It was closer to home than yours, but it really sucks trying to corner without the PS or stop without the PBs.
 
The lines were like $40 each. Really nice looking lines, not exactly the right shape but close enough to hook up with a bit of tussling.
