Crews and worthy rigs Around the country

When I worked for International in like '07-'08 we had a brand new truck come in for a pdi or something and it had Marmon Harrington rear axles also. They are crazy looking with the small center section. I'm wondering if it was destined to become an mrap possibly cuz I think they run them.

disk brakes were on all the mrap axles i have seen and here axletech brand . also small inner but planetary hubs for final reduction .

The planetary reduction makes it that smaller pinions could handle the torque.
Gear reduction = torque multiplication, ie the gears create more torque in the process of reducing the RPM. If the input torque is 1000 lb-ft, 2:1 gears turns that into 2000 ft-lb while 4:1 gears turn that torque into 4000 lb-ft. So by using the planetary gears and a pinion gear set, you use less reduction in the pinion meaning less torque multiplication at the pinion. Less torque allows the use of the smaller gears and you move the highest torque out to the planetary gears which are designed for higher torque in a smaller package.

Exactly.

I have always wanted to do one of these.
Now not so much.
I see there's many of them out there.
I wanted something different and with high capacity.
I would rather now do an extended van converted to 4x4
problem now with these in new york at least is if you modify to add extra seating past a specific # then you need to do a full state inspection .

this all come about a few years ago when a PILE OF SH!T strech limo that was pulled off the oroad some how got back on the road and 18 or 19 people died when the brakes gave out and shot down a hill and blew a T-intersection and down a embankment . ......... happen just out side of albany new york .

i like to modify and make cool but these days it can be a lot more tricky to do it and pass state inspection .

Time to increase insurance coverage. $57.5k with retro plaid interior and carb 350

Bet it wouldn't take much to pull the front wheels.

Shot of nos and 2 fatties against the back door you'd impress the entire Walmart parking lot lol.

There's a couple guys that used to run around my town with 57 Chevy 4doors cut down the same way.

This is the Suburban version of my Jimmy, but with an automatic instead of a manual.
