32 bucks for 10 pearl german slim cuts and 10 roark usa wheels shipped. Pretty good deal if you ask me.
Plus I found I could do more creative cuts as the discs are far less susceptible to damage when doing off-kilter cuts in tight spaces.I was at the local welding place the other day, having beaten Murphy by running out of welding wire AND gas, and doing so BEFORE noon on Saturday when the place closes ... anyway, they had the Pearl German-made discs. They get something ridiculous like two and a half bucks a pop, but I grabbed a couple and gave them the proverbial spin.
Obviously they're better than the Harbor Freight crap; two of these lasted as long as a ten-pack of the cheapos. Just on a per-dollar basis I come out ahead for not having to stop and change wheels all the time :deall: Plus I found I could do more creative cuts as the discs are far less susceptible to damage when doing off-kilter cuts in tight spaces.
The difference wasn't as noticeable when compared to some other stuff I bought from Roark a year or two back. Sadly I didn't track brands, but I think they were like a budget US-made disc, so they were better than the Chinese junk but still not quite as nice as these Pearls.
I think, w.r.t. cutoff wheels anyway, you get what you pay for.
