D60 install questions

I just measured 5" from the top of the sway bar/spring plate to the rubber bump stop so that seems like 4" lift. A stock K30 I have out here has about 1" clearance
So if I have 4" lift what should I do?

Not a good measurement, that leaves both the spring pack thickness and bump stop as variables. You need to measure from axle to frame to compare.

OK I measured 14.5" from top of axle to frame. It it sure feels like more than 4" when trying to climb up there.

I just measured mine and I have 14”.
5” ord springs. I have a small block and winch/bumper combo on front.

The front springs have Rough Country 8002 painted on them which is supposed to be a 4" lift but this truck is tall. It seems like a lot more than 4". What is the best way to figure out for sure?
4” springs it is. Yours are stiff and mine are VERY soft, so it would make sense that mine sits a little lower with the bumper winch and cage weight.

You are correct, it has been a long day

That explains the stretch getting in but does not explain why it should be 4" but measures 6"
rough coutry springs = zero sag . good springs sag a little with the weight on .

and was the 60 in there before or swapped in ? ? ? as i said they get you around 1" extra there so big over a 1/2 or 3/4 ton axle .

I've got rough country full spring 6" lift in this '78. (Which I want to do away with for a top notch springs set of 4") But if you need me to messjur anything for you I can tomorrow morning. Stock axles & and stock spring length. Oh and 35" tersIMG_20181027_160026422_HDR.jpg

I put the 60 in but the springs were already on the truck when I got it. I guess I will have to trade them on a smaller lift. My wife is 5'1"

I called rough country today and they said that the 8002 springs are supposed to be 4" lift and that they probably were not installed correctly.

The + is in the front on both sides and the shackles are pointing straight down/maybe angled forward a little. He suggested I loosen everything and start over but I can't find any detailed instructions

thats bull crap . how can you install a fixed size spring and have it come out wrong ? sounds to me like a crap help desk person .

and any lift kit spring over stock on these trucks for the most part puts the shackle vertical or slight forward .

even if the bushing bolts were to tight the polly bushing design would let the leaf move to its happy place .

only thing i have ever seen is some aftermarket leaf spring perches that are longer and the aftermarket top plates for the u-bolts can suck a spring down a hair more than stock stuff .

Well I don't know but it is a lot taller than every other 4" lift and I don't want it to be this tall

i am not trying to be rude or nasty . just my past dealings with the ruff country brand . but i have said before my past dealing with ruff country leafs . stiff as a dump truck . dont sag out at all and settle in . there is a reason there stuff is so cheep in price .

my buddy had a 6" front and rear all spring lift in his truck and he paid me to remove it and swap it for another kit i pieced together . 4" tuff country front and stock 56" rear springs and 4" shackle flip . loved the ride the first test drive around the block over the ruff country . his suspension now flexes and cycles good for off the shelf stuff .

he even had a full 8ft box of cut/split / laced all in nice and neat firewood in the back on the old ruff country kit and it dropped maybe 3/4 of a inch was all in the back .

if you want 4" total lift i would say get 3" springs for the front to work with your dana 60 and come in about 4" total . or just do 4" springs and be a bit over 4" .

Can you post pics?

Best one I have right now. Excuse the mess in the pics.

I had t put 3" blocks in the rear on top of the lift already on it to make it sit normally. I hate the squatting dog look :surepal:

When you can, try to get some pics of the springs up close.

From what I can see the springs look to be installed correctly but I agree it's tall for 4".
