Dare I say it...Another 72 K5 build! The Bubba build - getting back into it

Lucky me. That's all I need, to send these freaking driveshafts back to Jesse at high angle...

Or just limit travel some, like I said.

Just seems a waste to buy fancy springs if you don't use them in my book. But you could always cycle later on down the road, as long as you limit it now so that you don't run into trouble.

If you talk with ORD. They will tell you how far the springs can go neg arch past flat. So if you do end up breaking down and cycling, that is very helpful.

Its really not that hard of a thing to do if you have some nice sturdy tall stands to put the frame on securely.

If they allow for a lot of bump travel you will need to I sure that your shackles are long enough (and at the proper static angle) to allow the spring to completely "lay out" flat...

Sure you already know that... Just throwing it out for everyone ELSE reading this thread! :haha:

Hey Sean, have you gotten that feeling transition in your gut yet?

The "Im so happy I just got new shiny parts" :woot:, followed by the overwhelming stomach drop :shocked::shocked: after we tell you all this stuff you need to do so you don't kill all the nuns???

Its so exhilarating.... :D

Hey, im the one that hasn't blown a tcase because I failed to do this to my new springs... Cough SBD Cough... :D :D

Hea! I got around to it. It just cost me a wee bit more $$$$$$$$.. And it wasn't a TC, it was 2 transmissions, 3 drive shafts and a rear yoke. But I do believe I've got it dialed in now

Oh god! Not the ban schtick!!!!!!:eek1:

Here are some pics:

First off, the reason I haven't gotten as much done/taken many pics of late is I've been doing a lot of this

and this

But back to the truck, the rear output and driveline brake showed up earlier this week. I'm still waiting on the driveshafts (and getting a little paranoid that USPS may have misplaced them...) so I need to throw that on there.

And here are some shots of the truck. I didn't take many of the paint because it still needs buffed more. The tailgate was sanded the least and subsequently looks the best right now. Some other spots on the truck are a little dull still so I bought some different polish that should cut a little better. I should be doing that a little later today.

Then a pic of the fuse block. The AAW kit was really nice and went together very easily even though I'm a wiring noob.

The cluster is in, but not 100% just because I haven't tested everything yet. My plan is to paint the glove box door black to mirror the gauge bezel. I think it should look pretty nice.

I forgot to grab a pic of it, but my dad got me one of these for christmas wheel

My rims are painted but I haven't swapped the swampers yet because I'm waiting until my year yoke gets here. I was going to do them by hand but they kinda whooped my a$$... So now I'll just do them when I put the pinion back together for the 14 bolt.

I got my front shocks mounted pretty nicely I think. They're 14" travel bilstein 5150's. I still need to do the rears.

And an overall shot of the engine bay. The radiator still needs to go in, and I need to wire in the fans. There's still a bit of stuff to clean up under the hood, not to mention putting the inner fenders in and whatnot.

I hope that was enough... please don't ban-schtick me:eek1:

:haha:

I'm interested in how the harness was? The Painless harness wanted me to reuse some of my connectors. The point of a NEW harness is to get rid or the old one. So I didn't get it.

In the last year of so, Sean has became a Ford mechanic and took the big block out of his rig and installed a V6. He doesn't really come around here that much since he turned, the Ghey. I hope you get your answer somehow. :dunno:

Ouch!

It's true, I don't frequent nearly as often as I should... Too worried I'll get sucked in and never accomplish anything else :D

The aaw kit was awesome. I don't think I reused anything. Just cut certain wires to length, terminate and choose which circuits I wanted. Worked out really nicely.

Agreed. I completely rewired mine. The AAW kit was really well put together.

American Auto Wire for the win! Altho I did reuse some of the old rubber connectors because they seemed less cheesy than the new fangled plastic. I think I reused the turn signal to plug in to the plastic housings, rear harness connector at the rear cross member and the steering column one because I did not like the new flat style. (the original is curved around the column)
