Decisions decisions - Getting closer

Even detuned, they have boat load more power than any trucks use to have.

Stick with the manual.

See, this is what my gut is telling me... Forget the advice to shy away from a square body, the go-with-the-automatic advice is what's making my world feel upside down!:haha:

I have an 06 dodge CTD w/ 6spd & 3.73's for a daily driver, if it's detuned I can't tell it. Mine is rated at something like 325 hp / 600 tq and while pulling normal stuff (2 horse trailer and blazer on trailer @ about 8500+) I have yet to feel like I needed more motor.

My truck is stock except for a Southbend single disc clutch and some 34" Toyo's. The stock clutch never let me down, I replaced it because the factory dual mass flywheel started coming apart.

This is what I'd expect, but I haven't experienced it first hand. I want to say the new 6.7 with G56 is rated at 345/660 (I think that's what it said). I can't imagine I'd feel let down by that...

I just want to toss another vote for an 06-10 Duramax. The Allison transmission has me sold, even as someone who has a LB7 with a 6 speed manual in his trail rig. It is always in the exact gear and always shifts exactly how I would. These ain't no junky 700r4. They put the power down better than a manual transmission does.

The looks of the newer trucks aren't classic like the older stuff but they beat the older stuff hands down, no contest, in every way.

I love my newer trucks and couldn't imagine daily driving a classic anymore.

I hear you. It's a tough pill to swallow, but I hear you:haha:

I'm really not confident I'll find anything in the 06-10 range that's going to be the right price or not have a billion miles on it. I'll keep the option there, but I'm not holding my breath. I just don't want to buy your old truck (the problems that you had with it) and be SOL. If I'm spending anywhere close to new truck money, it'd better come with a warranty!

I remember a couple buddies getting new dodges from a dealership in Montana. Best deal around. They used to advertise prices in national magazines. Might wanna look into some think like that

Just heard back from the guy with the white one Paul posted. He wants 16k, but didn't answer any of my other questions. Meh...

Man you want 16 k you better be able to articulate how extremely awesome the truck is in grand fashion

That's my opinion too... I think I'll pass. All the pics are vague, and it appears there's a crease down most of the drivers side...

I have to say, the new chevys are ugly as sin. I can't buy a Ford in good conscience. That leaves the gmcs (not much better than Chevy ) and Dodge. I actually like the look of the latter.

Not what it was expecting really. We'll see what comes up.

If you're considering a Dodge and have kids, you cannot beat the mega cab for a man van. Mine has a TON of room and I think the newer trucks are bigger.

if I was gonna get a newer rig, it would without a doubt be a cummins with a manual... I don't care what kinda cr@ppy brakes, interior or rusty sheetmetal it had... best looking of the bunch too IMO....

doubtful any sheetmetal furd or GM put's out is any better...

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the trucks. The wife and I plan on some used dmax in a few years when her 92 2500 kicks the bucket. One thing I see a lot is people think the dodge cummins is a freaking semi truck.. So watch it for really super heavy loads.. Puts because the engine is rated doesn't mean the rest of the truck is. And in my opinion the dodges 2004-2010 sucked ass big time in the interior fit finish department. GM kicks all ass in that area and king ranch comes close, most of my wife's horse people drive fords and they all regret not taking my advice when I mention 78 tsb on that 6.0 engine. One has a cummins and one family has 3 dmax rs they run an equipment rental business and use their trucks. I'd go dmax Allison in a second no questions asked.
