Total= around $400

Hopefully it will be runnin and lookin a lot better after this and be safe against the evil salty Michigan roads. Paint maybe. Idk if ill get to it this summer or not. Also have the van and my bronco II to spread out my cash flow to, but this is the essential “must get done by end of summer” Blazer list. (price will no doubt somehow double along the way though haha).

Went and picked up a new topper today. The windows in both sides of mine are cracked and the window seals all leak. Guy had a nice one with good seals and glass for $100 and he met me halfway. Its blue, and pretty dirty, but i will just give it a good sanding and a coat of flat black and call it good.
Sorry about the snow lol. Idk what im gonna do with my old one.

yup, my place looks the same, maybe just a bit more snow. I just cleaned off a good foot of snow yesterday from my truck. I live on the north side of holland just 3 miles from the lake, and I feel your pain with the rust on your k5.

Also for anybody thats never been to or heard of Silver Lake Sand Dunes here in Michigan it is a must for truck enthusiasts!!!!

Heres a pic of Test hill the first hill when you enter the dunes, it looks small, but its really steep and really tall, hard to get a good pic of it tho.

I'm going to try to organize a june run at bundy hill for all the midwest ck5ers. I'll keep you in mind.

I hate the chrome window locking strips like that - they always turn brown. If the topper you have now has the black strip, just use that. Otherwise you can buy them for real cheap. You want to use the aluminum clip on them - I've seen too many brown runs down the side of K5/Subs from rusting steel locking strip clips.

Yah the ones on mine are pink and falling apart, so the brown still looks alot better, but i will have to look into that thanks

Top gear had a contest to see which american truck is the best. They raced through the alaskan mountains and the first to get on the glacier would win. The Chevy was the only one that made it. The 97 Dodge ram with 159,000 miles blew its engin, THe 79 ford snapped its drive shaft, and the 83 Chevy stepside with 240,000 miles made it onto the floating glacier, and back to land, and never broke a thing. Its a good day.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0z9gIgJMHs, I couldnt find the last part of the show anywhere but i assure you the chevy makes it to the glacier, on it, and back off lol.

My favorite part is when he runs over the log cabin with his truck lol

I went and bought 10 feet of vacuum line today and a timing gun. Replaced all the lines, i could tell it was working better because before if i unplugged one of them it wouldnt change, now its got suction and when unplugged it runs worse... THe lines were really bad haha, couldnt tell untill i bent one of them and saw the whole thing was cracked all the way throught the whole way down...... So i got that all better. Then i hit it with the light. had 15 deg BTDC at 550 rpms, sticker wanted it at 4 deg BTDC. 4 was pretty ruff when i let of the pedal after a nice rev, so i put it over to 8 deg BTDC and its workin like a charm. MUch less backfiring. And the advance seemed to be working properly. It seems to have some more "zip" and idles better. We shall see I guess.

Check the flyweighs under the rotor they may be sticking or stiff.

Flyweighs??? In the HEI?? I dont know how that really works lol. What should i be checking for/how do i fix it??? some cleaner or something???

Take your cap off the HEI. Then remove the rotor. Under the rotor should be some oddly shaped weights and springs. Those weights should move freely, and the springs should snap them back into place.

Gotcha, if they stick what should i spray them with/clean them up. WD40???

True they are pretty ugly, i just havn't messed with taking them off yet lol. To be honest they arent even hooked up, i had hoped to hook them up for deer hunting while gutting or tracking, or something out in the woods where alot of light is needed, but I never got around to it. It would also take away the hillbilly aspect of it too lol

Oh yah i forgot to mention, i checked the gear ratio, it does have 3.73's. And I bought a vacuum gauge and checked distributor vac, it was 18 HG when i revved it up, basically 0 idling.....

Just got home from being at work for 13 hours. I was the only one that could make it in besides brett(my boss). I worked till 3 then brett let me work on my truck. Fixed Timing (12* at idle, 8* advance with 15 HG of vacuum) Switched it to Non ported vacuum, and fixed manifold leaks and tranny leak. OMG its like driving a new truck. Breaks work 10 times better because of the vacuum fix, and its quiet as can be in the truck. It had that horrible manifold clicking sound before and i couldnt hear a thing driving. Im lovin it. :D

Used a little enginuity to get the exhaust outside and not get smoked out lol. Perks of workin for a Plumbing Company lol.
