Deulings 1985 K5 Blazer, --aka Borderline Obnoxious; Silver Lake pics and Vids

good to hear......run a tank or two through her and we'll see how much better the mileage is.

Yah hope so. I already ordered a carb rebuild kit with new floats so hopefully after thats done it will be even better, and once i figure whats up with the brake switch thats not sending 12v to my tranny to lock the converter up, that should help alot too.

I just posted over on another thread, but idling almost 3 hours this week (lots of snow, and a 1/2" of ice yesterday) and using 4 wheel drive dropped my fuel mileage from 16 to 11 this week...
Also, your tires will throw your speedo and odometer off, I've checked mine versus my GPS and mines really close at highway speeds. I was actually amazed how much it dropped, I usually fill up at 300 miles, I filled up today at 194 miles because if I let it get too low I can't fill up on my debit card. Truthfully, for as stock as your truck is right now, I think you should be able to get into the teens easily if you get your carb and everything tuned right.

Today me and my buddy Nate built a sandblast booth. For one this size to buy its about $900. We did it for $50. So stuff should be looking pretty good soon lol. If anybody is interested in building one I have all the CAD drawings i made for it saved on my computer and i could email them. Looks pretty good and could fit a ton of stuff in it and only took about 3 hours to build. Let me know. Just gotta find some big gloves and put them in the front of it. But saved about $800 lol. If your in the area we could even deliver. [email protected]

And I work for a plumbing and mechanical place and we do alot of furnaces so i always rip the exhaust fans and squirrel cages off. So i put one of the exhaust fans on the back to suck out the dust and we will rought it outside. Should work great.

Put some new U joints in the rear today. I woulda rebuilt my carb if i woulda known my lady had to go to work, but i got something accomplished so thats good. Less clunkage when i put it in gear.

Spent yesterday putting a 10 1/4 sterling in my buddies F-250 Diesel. Apparantly its the biggest rearend ford made, and it felt like it haha, freekin heavy. But it was a success none the less.

Me cuttin the E-brake seeing it doesnt work anyways.

So i was thinkin about a lift kit this summer seeing how easy it was to take the rear end out of my buddies truck, a lift sounds like a breeze on this.

I was thinkin a 3" Tuff Country lift.
http://www.suspensionconnection.com/cgi-bin/suscon/137203.html

IT Doesnt come with shocks i dont think, will i have to get longer ones for sure?? And if so whats an ok brand (wont break the bank, but work good.... lol if thats possible)

If i get 33x12.5 tires will the 305/700r4/3.73s be able to handle them alright??? I know mileage will most likely suffer.

Will i need longer driveshafts/steering column/anthing else???

Whats your thoughts??

I wouldn't do it, get a shackle flip kit for the lift in the rear. Blocks will give you crazy axle wrap if you run in the dunes. Ask me how I know. The springs you could use for the front, you may get away with running the same shafts etc but will need longer brake lines. Shocks I would go procomp there like 30 bones a piece. Going with the flip and the stock springs, and a 3" spring lift in the front will be decent, and probably get rid of any saggy ass syndrome.

I second jekquistk5's opinion on the rear blocks. DIY4x4 and ORD both have some flip kits for less than 200.00. I'll be ordering one or the other for my project blazer pretty soon. You might not notice the axle wrap until it's too late. I've seen a few people lose their rear shaft out at the dunes.

I think I noticed in the last set of pictures that you took the light bar off. Are you keeping it for later or do you think you might get rid of it? I'm down in KY so it fits right in here with the "rednecks"... haha

Idk im still thinkin about it. If i put it on i would want some KC's but idk yet. How much you want it for??

Go with a 2.5" and an inch longer shackle.

Martin

Isnt the shackle what lifts it though.... Idk guess im still not completely sure how it goes lol. Never lifted anything before so... not very knowledgeable in that dept lol.

So then in the front i have to get new leafs right? What size/kind should i get??? Sorry i have no clue about any of this lol. Everybody around here just throws blocks in and calls it good, but I NO WANT AXLE WRAP haha

Also what else comes with a lift. What about the stearing setup? Do i need longer parts....

I don't really know... haha, just thought I'd ask. Its just one of those things that I would like to have if I came across a good deal. I don't really HAVE to have one, just might be a good thing to have when in the woods camping or something. I've seen them priced from $100 to $200, and I would be on the lower end of that. No big deal really, and if you're in Michigan, it probably wouldn't be worth the shipping...:dunno:

Maybe I'll just make one :D

It all depends on how much you want/are willing to spend.
