Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Deulings 85 K5. The SVT BLAZER. [BENDING TUBE]

Dang! It's a good thing you're adding a cage to it, that'll be all that's left soon.

This rot hasn't gotten any worse since I have owned it really. The thing has basically been in a garage for 4 years and played with in the summer.

A band aid will help a lot with slowing it down.

Man, mine went down about the same time and by Dec I was ready to pull my hair out. I can't see how some guys keep their rigs down that long, but then again mine isn't a dune beast either....

Keep us updated on how you like the poly mounts.

Yah, I have done a lot this "upgrade season".

Rear suspension and frame plating etc, regearing both axles, cage work.

I should have hit it harder in the winter. But it was so freekin cold. If its 32 out im in the shop no problem. But when its 0 for weeks at a time, no thanks!!!!

It's Gweakland's 800 though:thumb:

Oh Adam we know you'll be at 6000 by Monday:haha:

Geez, it's been so long I forgot your upgrade list was that large. You are going to be whoopin some a$$ out there this year then:bow:

One word......

SALT.

Those of us in the salt belt have to choose between parking the truck and watching it get noticeably lighter each year. Or trying like mad to stay on top of undercoating often enough to slow the rust down.

Well its back in. One thing I learned, is hole saw out the staked holes a few sizes bigger in the floor. Once you start sucking it all down, stuff shifts around a bit. Nothing a die grinder couldnt fix, but still a pain.

Tommorow is a pillars and windsheild tubes. And maybe start on frame tie ins.

Also sanded down the rust converter, and laid some primer. Ill find some time tomorrow to do a first "low" coat. That way its not one big hunk that wont cure right.

if its only for a temporary repair. i had less rot on mine ,i used a 50 50 solution of all metal and fibreglass resin.i spread it with a brush, it level out real nice. didn,t need to sand it. been holding for over 8 years. wouldn,t work on the bigger holes thought.

Today was awesome.

I got down and got all the seats back in, a pillars tacked in. Then craig showed up and promptly got to work on the A pillars. And did a 100x better job than I had originally planned on band aiding them with....

Nate came down too and fixed my jacked alternator bracket (dont lift engine to do motor mounts with alt bracket ) Then he got all my shocks and springs bolted in.

Super happy with today. I miss working in the garage with these two.
