Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Thanks dave. Im definately gonna consider it. I mean 50% off a lift is pretty unbeatable lol. Nates gettin a 6" with bilsteins (idk what series) with steering arm, u bolts etc.... for like $700. Thats pretty sweet.

Ah not a Chevy!:doah:

It's all good!:thumb:

But the point is hes getting his half off and if we go in and make one payment (for 2 lifts) I can also get an entire lift half off.... I just didnt know the quality of them, or the ride...

Yeah I got the point... sweet deal!!
Might not be the springs you want for smooth sailing in the sand though.

But I am no expert....just thinking man.:dunno:

Yah just trying to get some input from people with experiance. Ill give superlift a call and see what the full price will be and cut it in half and see if the ride quality (if its not that great) is out weighed by the low cost. I mean if its like 400 for a full lift then.... :D

I am running superlifts on the Jimmy ( they came that way) full spring lift, its a bit rough but I am used to my 56s on Horton. The couple of times I have been wheeling they don't do too bad. What we did on Daves truck with the front suspension helped his quite alot smoothed out the ride some too I bet.

Remember I am running crappy shocks, good shocks go a long ways.

If you can get half off just get some superlift shocks, just don't get the shocks they recommend they will limit the travel quite a bit.

Half off a kit is quite a deal but sometimes those things are half off full retail so you end up only being about 20% off the real price.

Superlift is one of the higher spring rates not the highest but it is a bit higher than others but if the deal is right, the deal is right

Ive got superlift 4 inch front leaves on my 85 chevy and they are stiff but not horrible. Because that truck is more of a work truck than a wheeling rig I actually wanted some stiffer springs and I got them on sale as well. I run without a sway bar too.

As long as you are not looking for insane flex or super smooth ride I wouldnt have a problem running them.:dunno:

Thanks dan! Well if they are rough I think ill just go with the Alcans, Itll be like a Caddy :D

Well I dont want to chase you away from a good deal, Im completely happy with the ones on my street truck. Just dont expect a caddy like ride with them. And good shocks go a long way like blazinzuk said, Ive got crappy shocks as well.

Ok, so, I may be in the negative opinion here, but if this thing is getting linked in the future, go with teh Superlift, get good shocks like everyone is saying, and save the money you saved on the Superlift instead of buying the Alcans and put it towards your link fund. Just my .02

Also, if you do build a beater wheeler, you could later use the super lift on it instead of paying money you could be spending on the nice k5 on beater.

Why are you so dead set against a shackle flip? If you want a good ride, a shackle flip and factory springs would probably be the way to go.

As far as Superlift springs. I have a set of them on my 1982 K30 3+3. 8" lift springs in the front, 4" lift springs in the back with a zero rate, ORD 4" shackle flip, and DIY4X 7" shackles. It need shocks, and a lot of other things, but it flexs.

Sorry about the overload of pictures. I can delete them if you want, but I tried to post ones that showed the springs in action.

I'm pretty sure that flexing yer rig, in a corn field irrigation ditch, is some level of redneck...

I give it a solid "8"..... :thumb:

Thank you, I am definitely a redneck. That being said it is a drainage ditch, not an irrigation ditch. We live over the Ogallala Aquifer. We don't need irrigation ditches. It's hard not to it water under here.

Slight Hijack, sorry.

Back on topic. If you are really set on going with coil overs later, I see absolutely no point in spending big money on lift springs (or even lifting it at all really). I can understand wanting to lift it though, so just go cheap(ish) for now.

Well idk when ill do coils for sure, it wouldnt be for a long while i think, id rather have a nice ride quality while wait so i can enjoy it, no not the smartest choice financially i know but oh well ill eat it. And martin the reason i dont wanna do shackle flip with stock spring is cuz the springs blow. I put the rough country nitro9000 shocks on and it still rides like a brick. I dont want it to ride any worse for sure.
