Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Rather than dueling over what to call Deuling, due to his speed hole predilection (pressed, not drilled, like James Bond), I vote we call him "Colin Chapman", because he's adding lightness to his build with all the speed holes. :haha:

Just because I had to google it..

"Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere"

Cycled my springs after work. a 2x4 actually worked perfect to make up the 1.5" thickness of the springs below the main leaf.

Ended up with 11.25" static travel. It goes just negative. Ill try it and see how long they last. Was hoping they would get me a bit more travel.

Very pleased with everything. Shocks, driveshaft, anti wrap bar. It all works flawlessly together, no binding, super smooth. Articulated the axle and the tires dont hit the shocks. (EAT YOUR HEART OUT HEATH :D)

Used an entire can of this during re assembly. See how it works.

Damn those are some sexy shackle hangers...

;)

And to end it, Ill repost the bump and droop pics next to each other....

Looking good!

Not to pollute your thread, but where did you find your CV flange slip yoke?

I bought the works, Rat Fink and all from Mike thebeast88k5 when he parted his rig out. Who is now banned. Unfortunately.

I see... I have the same style shaft and am hunting a flange slip yoke. They are evidently hard to find

Yah this is a HAD shaft mike paid out of his ass for, and sold it to me for like $200 shipped. Plus he painted the fink on it...

Lol even better. Mine is out of an old (70s?) Cadillac where the slip yoke was made into half of the cv joint. Of course this can't be found anymore so I'm converting to a flange slip yoke...

Lol nice.

Im super impressed with how the driveshaft angles work through travel. Nothing bottoms out, or droops out. Its all just perfect.

So to wrap it all up, I really like these. The offsets work perfect with an aftermarket spring perch that has 3 hole locations. (my 52s were in the center hole, these are in the front hole).

My axle stayed exactly where it was with the 52s, didnt have to touch the antiwrap bar at all. Really glad about that.

If i set the 52s to stop at bump travel when they were flat, i had about 7-8" total travel. These are netting me 11.25 total static, at just negative spring arch on bump travel.

My ORD springs up front are set at about 11.50 travel. So now my front and rear match pretty well.

Overall, im super happy and really excited to go test these :thumb:
