Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Um, yeah, I was specifically replying to the logic of the other guy saying that 60 + 60 was no big deal. Safety is generally not one of the things that I say "Eh, it's good enough" and ignore sound advice from professionals in the industry but you are obviously young and invincible. I on the other hand have a wife and three kids that depend on me and I would like to see the little ones grow up. You know, be there for their graduations, weddings, etc. and not from the viewpoint of a wheel chair.

I never got personal with anything I have said and I'll be the first to admit that you have the physical skills to do it right, but your attitude is pretty crappy. Again, no personal attacks here, just being honest with you.

Fair enough. I may have a "crappy attitude", but that is directed at the people that assume im building a vehicle to drive into a wall at 100 mph.

I just wanna go play. Plenty of people play with things 99% less safe than this every day and walk away fine. I just wanna go play and not bend my frame.

But to be honest, im pretty sure most of your posts in my thread have been posts complaining about my modifications.

In the end im not building a race car. If I get in a racecar type accident and die, so be it. I made it pretty damn safe to the amount i wanted. At least I would die doing what I love. And Id rather that than cancer or some disease.

And when the F*** did CK5 turn into Pirate4x4 on PMS mode? :dunno:

Do we not do fun builds here anymore? Or are we all Ultra 4 racers all a sudden?

Sorry, I don't pad your thread or anyone else's with incessant compliments and the like. There are plenty of other guys on here swinging off your nuts for that :D I say what needs to be said and that's all. Some people appreciate that and some don't, hope we can still be friends :dunno:

I think you are doing a good job and have a lot of potential, way more than I did at your age. Your style is definitely not my style but I can still appreciate it. What is it that you actually do for a living?

Hmm, you start doing that straight out of high school or did you do some kind of vocational school? Seems like that would be fairly interesting. Do you have a lot to do with the actual conceptual design or ???

I got an associates in CAD. Applied for some jobs, the industrial tech superviser at my college called me and told me this place wanted me. So i took the job, it is much nicer than the plumbing I did for 6 years.

I do everything from fxing old designs to making new parts.

Its the most mentally challenging job I have ever had, and I love the $hit out of it.

I think that is quite an exaggeration. I think maybe you just gotta take criticism for whatever it's worth without looking at it as a personal insult. Take you're own "chill-ax" advice would be my advice to you.

Having read most of your comments here, I will say you have a certain abrasive undercurrent. Constructive criticism is welcome and needed at times, and so is encouragement. You might try mixing a bit of both more often...

To be honest Rene, lately i just feel like ive been under a gun...

So i may seem to be acting like a hard headed a$$hole, but you gotta learn to look at things in both directions IMO. I may not be doing things the way an ultra 4 car should be built.... But I ran the blazer harder than many people i know last summer when I had zero cage and I never died or broke anything.

I like the criticism though. It helps to drive me to get out and play. I cannot wait to drive this thing. Im stoked :D

I will surely die in my 76 Dually....It only has lap belts...

I agree that the shoulder belts could be a bit higher on the mounting, but forge on Adam!

Holy crap Dave I actually thought of this. Like what would some say if they knew I towed 6000 lbs in a dually with only lap belts lol.

Adam is just sad cause he lost his yoga mat

You should read the things people write when you tell them you don't even wear a seat belt.

I totally said that last summer. I think I told Swetty something like, "Man Dave is brave for towing with that old dually." (Of course the two of us drive the biggest pieces of **** blazers all over the place)

Also, to be realistic. I don't think any car is surviving a 120mph impact on the street. They only crash test these things to 35mph-40mph unless manufacturers go out of their way.

Just some quick googling.

Good gollly. I go see a stupid avengers movie and I am 3 pages behind.

Did not read through it all. Just looked at the pictures. You are too tall for that seat. Just my opinion.

Truth, i remember that exact convo.

You guys wanna bitch at somebody, I'll send you pics of my floor. In the truck that I wheel. A lot. And drive all over the place....
