Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Aww ****. More things to think about :doah:

Im gonna say no, because I dont want to move it :haha:

Queue the next round of Adam-bashing... :doah:

You gotta stop these lazy shortcuts if you want folks to accept your build. I understand that not everything you do will be your best work (I can think of several spots on my truck that I wouldn't wanna show off), but you have repeatedly said you want this truck to be a showcase for your fab skills. That's why you are held to a higher standard than other builds on here. You have some great fabbing abilities, but each shortcut short-sells your abilities. This isn't about pirate-style nit-picking. But I wouldn't be comfortable buying a cage from someone who shows off a bunch of half-baked shortcuts in his demonstration truck. Yes, your half-baked solutions will probably work, but they won't demonstrate the excellence that you want to show off with this truck.

And I like the tire carrier. Are you unable to stand the tire up anymore? Or was that a visibility issue? Seems like that burns up a lot of cargo area compared to the original location (which was too small for your tire, right?)

I didnt think i got lazy at all on the CO2 mounts. I just didnt know they couldnt be mounted sideways. I think I can just cut the legs off, make the outer one longer, and get close to the 30 degree angle.

Not a huge concern. Just park off camber if you want to use the tank.

I don't have any more input but I would try it for a season and deal with the issues if there are any.

Lol really that would probably work.. "Why are you flexed out every time you are filling your tires???" :haha:

Looks like it will just feed straight liquid co2 until its below the level of the valve. I think I can just make the outer leg a few inches longer and get a good enough angle. If the tank was still empty id play with valve stuff, but I just had it filled :doah:

Its too bad though, I really liked how it sits vertical and takes up zero floor space.

You could just take it out to fill tired as well. You can supposedly mount them any which way you want, just don't want liquid CO2 getting out during use.

If it were me I would mount that puppy over on the left down tube right above the wheel well (opposite of the spare tire). There is your minimum 30 degrees and it would require zero refabbing, just take your existing design and move it over. Or you could do the retube inside the tank like that link showed . . .

Exactly. It can be mounted upside down if you want. Just wont release gas, but liquid.

I didnt mount it over there becuase it takes up alot of space. I figure this is space that wont be used anyways. I cant mount my tire any other way.

I think I will just use this bottle up, remove it to fill only takes a few seconds anyways. And then get an anti siphon tube installed before next fill up.

This sucked. But its high and tight. Should be able to make the other one pretty fast now.

You got 40 years out of the stock hoses? Maybe I haven't owned enough 40-year old vehicles, but this raises my eyebrows a bit. Is there some secret to making them last a long time?
Nice callout...I had to go recollect my self....original heater hoses, but not radiator hoses, mostly newer clamps though.
When I first got to see the truck in Moab, I was amazed at how original it was after 35 years...I put a tune up on it, a new fan belt and drove it home 1300+ miles from Erics place in Idaho!

That looks nice and close.:waytogo:

I'm sure it's the pic angle, but how close is it to your roof at the back?

It's touching  Well actually it has a small space, but not much.

I think I'll have to make some plates up and weld it to the roof on the underside.

Stupid half cabs
I was thinking of notching my cab, right where it dips down for the "internal rollbar" BS. That way I could suck the tubing right up against the roof. I bet there's a good amount of hidden height if it's notched and I don't think it will affect the hard top mounting.

What do you think Adam? I haven't stared at it enough to come to a conclusion.
