as I said, they fuggin scream.. spin 4600 to 4800 in the boats all day..
but man they make me nervous...
we have fresh ones in the yard that idle with like 8 psi oil pressure.... 
Merc says it's ok, but man, you watch that gauge and it makes ya cringe...

more than few times.. I play with stuff most don't see... I have a couple dozen 496's and 502's that I work on daily, and have had many hot-rodded TBI's over the decades.....
the majority of headaches related to hotrodding TBI is people dealing with "modded TBI chips" from various vendors with poor results... with a fully controllable system like MS, anything is possible...

I know they run very thin oil (5W30) in cars and trucks but they don't spin 4-5K for hours on end. They typically live under 3k rpm for most driving and cruising. So that makes me wonder if they are running the same thin stuff and if they have an oil cooler.
no oil coolers.. a big peeve of mine, once warm is when the pressure get's stoooopid low..... we've often suggested adding them... and 25/40...
Adam if you build the front as good as you built the back that cage will take a very serious roll. Probably one of the better cage builds I have seen on this site. Gonna be interesting to see how much out of whack it is. I draw a pic of the cage when I pull one out to weld it and 5 hen figure out what way the weld is gonna pull it. Man that's a pain.

That means alot Eric. I think the rear cannot move with all the bracing. B pillar may move out or in some, should be easy to spread or pull, and the a pillar floor mounts will be piece of cake to push or pull.
It never made one creak, pop noise while i was welding. And i jumped all over, to try and spread out the heat etc.
Took the words right out of my mouth! I was thinking, "FINALLY, someone mentions a torque-based engine!"
High-end power, not so much. But you gotta love the torque!

This removed the weld spatter really well from all the joints.
Then after wiping it down, scotch bright pad to it all followed by another wipe down....
And wow that took a whole 30 seconds....

I'll fix the A pillars of you build me a cage.
By fix my A pillars, I mean a quick shot with a sand blaster, stuff some mar glass in the voids, paint and put back together

Oh yah im not scared. For now its just getting a quick clean up and fill the holes so it doesnt get any worse until i actually get around to painting the thing.

Not really a full vert guy. I like the half cab personally.
Is that because you want more metal between the dunes and your head or because you prefer it aesthetically?
