Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

I can appreciate that. I really just like them for the fact they come with fuel injection.... Whats the point of spending $2000 on a Fast system, when I could have an ls in and running for less $$$..

Thats really my view on it. If I wanted to stay carb, Id go BBC all day long. But I still cannot fathom how people can spend $2000 for fuel injection. Its cool, but good lord thats alot of money for a throttle body and fuel pump.... Now if they cost like $800.....

I got my kit for 1400 through a dealer hook up. Now if you consider I need a carb for my new engine, and let's say a new one runs 500.... Then I just paid 900 for efi.....

or I paid 1400.....

It's all perception......

A factory tbi system will never support the hp that the fast kit can...

who said anything about factory? I said tweaked... hot injectors and chip work is all you need to feed plenty of power...

every 502 I've ever worked on was a roller, MPFI beast...

f*ck FAST.... you could work a tweaked BB EFI TBI for under a grand all day long with a bit of effort..

Where do I get this engine? lol.

Ok ok. I have a strong 408 with like 6k miles on it.... My engine isnt going anywhere anytime soon...... It was just a thought I had yesterday.

And with that, I finished welding and added some gussets tonight after work.

Derail!

Anyway, for me, the ls wins in a sand truck all day. Probably weighs a couple hundred pounds less than a BBC. Dollar for dollar you will get better sand performance out of the ls. Now, in a tow rig or even just straight Street truck, I would take the big block.

Lol, id take a 502 as well. Im just not sure where the h3ll you even find one for under a fortune :dunno:

come down to the marina.... :haha: I've got one sitting in my shop...

but I'm old... the 5.3 bandwagon is where it's at..

I got a 454 for sale :D

Hmm though sand = twins on a a stroker LS of course that's a no money spared kind of build but should be just over 1000 hp

bored throttle body, 95 # injectors and megasquirt tables dumping the fuel, you can feed a pretty serious mill......

It just a lot of work...when you can just open a box....my opinion

I went down that road once...have you?

hopefully you don't need a porta-power to reinstall it... :haha:

I think it will be pretty close. IF not I have that, and lots of straps. It will fit back in one way or another

It was so nice to weld it like this instead of in the thing.
