Deuling's 1985 K5. "Restart thread on post #8415"

Had a good day for sure.

I wanna pull the rear shaft and inspect the joints. Axle side joint appears to have a little slop when pushing on it. Nothing on the pinion bearing when you push on the yoke.

It's the same joint that was in it when I bought the shaft from Mike (beast88k5 or whatever his screen name was)

I did 18 the last trip of last year.

So these tires are soooo good. I can barely get the rear end broke loose to whip it around. They just grab.

So the big question have Adam.

What's next? It actually looks like it works really well. Even those rear springs.

I'm not sure I would do much at all to it. Works good I think just enjoy it.

It might be time to do what Nate has done. Start looking for a donor to build a 2wd beamed truck. Or a long travel a arm setup.

Oh probably ought to get a house first lol

I agree. Blazer is in nice form, perhaps it's time to start planning the tube buggy idea. Or Bronco II FTW! :pimp:

I'd like to have the shocks tuned to help out with the bouncyness a little. I think I need a little more rebound valving to keep the rig sucked down a split second more on hits. Instead of it just bouncing back up.

It's a lot of fun, but the dunes are fresh right now, and they will get way more whooped out as the season goes, just from all the traffic.

Other than shock tuning, its maintenance that I just need to keep up with. Every time I go I end up running it harder and harder. Going up there alone like yesterday and having to drive it back, means I gotta stay on top of stuff that will get me stranded.

I'm really happy with the rear springs though for the price. When I have some extra cash, I might just order a new set just to have on hand. One thing I know about ford pickups, is that the rear leafs tend to break a lot. And I'm abusing these pretty well.

The zip ties are still holding up though ;)
