Does everyone have a darn 14ff/d60!!!!

10 bolt front with Auburn and 10 bolt full float with Auburn. Gets where I need to go.

10 and 12 bolts rear will eventually break with ok decent horse power.

I've broke 1/2 dozen 10 and 12 bolts rear and am sick of doing it, so from now on FFs or 14 SFs.

I even want to put a FF 9 inch on my old car

I am running 35's and 10b's. The rear has upgraded shafts and Yukon 4.88 gears on a trutrac LS. The front is awaiting new gears. I was daily driving it when my pinion came loose and started to eat up the gears. It was easier and faster to order parts than find a 14bff and do the work to put it in and still need taller gears and different wheels. I also only do mild dirt roads and light snow when I go boarding. I am running a new stock engine. My 79 C20 pickup with a 420hp/525tq sbc is my hot rod vehicle and tow vehicle. It came with a 14bff from the factory with 9 leaf springs on each side of the axle.

If I used the K5 for real off roading, I would have upgraded the axles.

Thanks. Sweetk30 for the link. I'm making my own. I have all my pieces I'm just in between like 4 projects right now. But making good progress

Another old member here built a 14FF front axle years ago but progress stopped at the axleshafts. He did have it under his rig and driving it (obviously no 4wd) and he built his with a center pumpkin for some weird t-case thing he was going to try.

Really I didn't see a thread for it. But I've seen people run a center pumpkin n a 2 piece front shaft with a bearing

Someone was running a 70 or 80 front... Can't remember who. It's been a few years.

I swapped the front Dana 44 on my 70 for a 10 bolt out of an 84 so it would have disc brakes. I picked up a 14bolt SF to replace the 12 bolt and it needed alot of work so I just swapped the gears in the 12 bolt and had a Detroit Trutrac installed at the same time. My Blazer spends more time on the street than anywhere but hope to take it on some easier trails next spring. I think for my use with 33's the stock stuff will hold up. If it breaks though I will definitely upgrade to at least the 14 bolt SF for the rear.

60/14 on blazer
10/14 on truck

Note:
The 10bolt on the truck.... Ran 33" bfgs... The 10 bolts have a weak outer shaft. Likes to break at the worst times...

Axle combo choice

Yes, the D60/14FF combo is the prefered setup for anything past moderate wheelin. I want to be able to wheel on hard core stuff. If I don't thats fine, but at least I can vs getting to a trail that gets tough and have to then worry about breaking stuff. So I decided to go with the D60/14FF combo right from the get go so it's a non issue out on the trail.

I'll 2nd that!!
60-14ff on the Sub
60-14ff on the wife's Power Wagon
