Duntz's 81 Malibu project *UPDATE: trading for 79 malibu*

Unfortunately, it isn't finished :doah:
It is very close though. I built it when I was living in NC for 1/8th mile. Not sure how the 4.56 gears will like the 1/4 mile tracks here in CO. At sea level, it should run low 10's on motor and mid 9's on a 150 shot. In Colorado with the tracks about 6000' eleveation, I'm guessing I will lose about a second or so.

Just need to finish plumbing the fuel, mont seats and radiator, wire gauges, NOS and shifter. I'm guessing the weight is close to 3100..glass hood and front bumper, Kirkey racing seats, no door crash bars...

I am trading the blazer I got a couple months ago for this....

Looks nice! :waytogo: A lot less work than your old one.:D

My grandpa had a Malibu like that... lime green.
I had a 79 black Monty for a while that I was going to put a 454 in but the BB went in my 78 k10 instead.

The Monty was a fun car to drive. I like the size of them.

Get to work :D :haha:, cant wait to see some videos of it when ya get it done.

Im hoping for 7's in the 1/8th for mine. 4.8 with either a 150 or 200 shot, 400t, and 4.10's is how it will be setup for the time being. Im buying another 4.8 that is in pieces off of the guy that has the malibu for $100, planning on building a iron ls1 turbo motor....

Ive always been in love with the G-body cars, just something about their body lines and their size.

I would take a 78-81 Malibu over any other GM car, I like the Monty's too especially the late 80's LS Monty's.

Finally got to go get my new car and now the fun begins... :D

Ooooph. Man, I hate vinyl tops. Never seen one that didn't look like that under it.

What'd they do, just bondo over all that crap?

They brazed the holes and put bondo over it, driver side is alot worse than passenger.

I'm going to do a temporary fix on it... Seam seal where the top and quarter come together and then put a little bit of bondo to smooth out the problem areas.

saweet. :waytogo:

I have an 81' Regal, I dig G bodies.

Ive loved G bodies as long as I have square GM trucks.

Mine needs some body work but is mostly rust free, was a vinyl top car and where the quarter panel and top meet as 2 holes about the size of a pencil eraser.

That looks like its in good shape! Mine has a home paint job from my father and I and I built everything else myself. Its my first car so I can never sell it. I just keep tinkering with it and take it to the track once or twice a year.
