EZO's Build Thread - Recipe for disaster... BUMPSTOPS, rough draft version 1.0

Going to see if I can tackle the front upper shock mounting situation today and tomorrow evening after work. Updates to follow... :waytogo:

Well I tossed on the rear shocks to see where I was at on the travel. The axle mounts need moved up quite a bit. The shocks are quite a bit extended just sitting at ride height. (plus I think I may have a binding issue...)

The plan is to use these mounts welded up a few inches on the axle tubes.

Front shocks awaiting their fate... I worked on the drivers side ford mount some and got some progress made on making it fit around the steering shaft. Will get some pics soon.

Got the T-case stabbed back in at the preferred angle... Not sure exactly if this will work as planned. Will find out if I have to lower it a tad when the front drive shaft arrives.

Started fabbing the front upper shock mount. No better place to start than the drivers side where all the crap is in the way! The Ford towers will have some support added onto the back side and attach to the top of the frame and tie into where the motor mounts bolt on. The bottom of the shock tower will incorporate the bump stop that will contact the top of the spring pad.

Ahh my kind of build, lots of pics, Right to the point!!! :thumb:
Looks great man I really like that grill, I feel like you could smash a deer and not risk destroying that nice radiator :D

BGKYK5 beefed up his Ford shock towers. Might want to check out his build. Believe it was a year or so ago.

Couple little things.... Figuring out my rear brake line stuff. Going to mount a little extended tab on the diff cover for the drop line to attach to, probably be a little shorter than what is in the pic...

Took off the rear stock bumpstop brackets since I will building new ones to contact the top of the spring pad. - Looks better without those goofy things on there too...

Painted up the quart crate :waytogo:

Looks good! If you would like someone to store your wheels/tires for you until you finish the build I could arrange that for you. :D

BTW, do you know how much one of those wheels weighs?

LOL ya I bet you would "store" them!

The wheels themselves are very heavy for an aluminum beadlock, but weigh less then most steel setups... 40 pounds each. They are built for some serious pounding.

I would store them on my rig, bolted to the hubs via lugnuts, that way they won't get lost! Did I mention free of charge? I'll even pay freight to get them here. :D

Do you know how much comparable aluminum beadlocks weigh in the same size, such as TR beadlocks? I can't find that info anywhere.

TR's are like 32 pounds, Spyderlocks 45 pounds. I looked at them all when I was looking to purchase. I called just about everybody for weights and mounting flange thickness, etc...

Not looking forward to drilling and tapping holes in my beadlocks.... cross your fingers I don't screw it up! :doah:

But its what I must do to install my Monster Valves. They are HUGE! :D

You shouldn't be able to screw that up. :haha: No pun intended. I've heard that those will let you air down quick. Can't you set them to where they stop letting air out automatically when they get to a certain PSI? That would be most helpful.

They let you air down very fast, the advantage is that you can have a pressure guage on the regular valve stem so you can watch it as it changes.

always loved this build....

please finish it for me.

It will get finished. Had to be placed on the back burner for a while... Between buying a house and starting a business and planning a wedding the last six months have been a little hectic.

My brother has been getting on me lately about working on it also. He keeps saying that if its not done by Blazer bash he is getting a cucv or k30 so he can go without me. Lol

Hey slacker I got my M1028 and ready to hit some trails... And your build has been dead for a year now! I would say its about time to see some change before I start using your jimmy for parts

Sincerely your brother.
