I usually cruise a bit faster than traffic because seeing the same backend of a car for hours on end makes me literally fall asleep at the wheel. So 90% of the time, I'm passing someone, and attempting to catch up to the next group of cars. I usually cruise about 65-80, but occasionally find myself passing 85 with ease on the highway... I'm running a 86 Jimmy/Blazer (yeah, it's both) on 31s with 3.73 gears. I've gotten it to 110 or so, don't know for sure since the numbers stop at 85.. but I had no shake or shimmy whatsoever.

For a real dumbass thing to do, between Wilmington, NC and Camp Legeune Marine Base, there is a 3 mile stretch of blank highway with no places for cops to hide... When I was there, I took my Stanza up to 140+ before letting it coast back down to reasonable speeds, since I figured if I hit the brakes going that fast, I'd likely hit a stone in the road and lose control from the hop. It was awesome, and have since never done it again, though I still get a rush out of a good street race. My Speedo goes up to 130, but my Tach goes much farther... I did some simple math and figured out how fast I was actually going... 3000rpm at 85, and 4500rpm at 130.... I hit 6000rpm and it was all over.... I figure I was well past my power band, and I could tell I didn't accellerate _THAT_ much after 130, but I buried the needle, and almost redlined the car. Gotta love a 5 speed and the biggest 4 banger of it's day...

Isn't it awesome making "muscle car" owners whimper when they see your truck and hear the power?

Who knows how fast ive gotten mine up to.....ran outta numbers lol, its fun for about 10secs then its like wtf am I doing.....slow the f down retard........I typically cruise 70-75......thats what my speedo says, and I never recal'd it when I went from 32.5(actual measure) to 35's.

yea ok man, you freakin drive like a bat out of hell. you grip the steering wheel and do a grimlin laugh and floor it, 496 ci's later im cared to death

Something's probably in bad shape on yours. You should be able to drive without a scary shimmy at legal speeds on properly inflated radials.

I generally cruise on the highway at about 60mph but I have had my blazer up to about 100mph downhill.....that was just insane. I got tire squirm and almost shat my pantaloons.

I generally roll about 60, 80 rides nice in my blazer, and 75 - 80 in my K10 is night too, 85 and it will start cackling :D i love that sound, I dont speed that much often though, I cant afford to lose my CDL

I'll let ya know next week, but with the old 10blts and 3.73's I could do 70 just fine with no shakes. Besides feeling every bump in the road.... I think its just fine.

The speedometer does not work but I can tell you I get funny looks when the :burb: on 44" boggers with 454 screaming passes by the slower traffic :D

i feel as if i am the outcast...but my blazer is lucky to do 80, it just physically cant go past about 80-83 o well i average 90-100 on highway in the t-bird

Chris, you drive that thing like you stole it....cause you did.

Attack of the A**hole Liberty!!!!

edit: oh, so this post isn't a total waste of bandwidth, when I feel the need to get somewhere quick, I'll cruise at 85 (I made it from Wilmington to Charlotte, unpacked and settled in my room in under 2 hours - that's normally a 4 hour drive), but usually I run 55-60 because gas is expensive.

Road rage in a liberty! O yeh, in that cruise at.........eh.........95+.......with ventures to insanity.....

91' bone stock with 31" revos

vibration 55-~62 mph but like to cruise at 65-70mph.....its still smooth at 75-90mph but scary.

not to hijack thread, this will be m last post, k20 was using the liberty to assault someone in a toyota. they got over, so did we. they sped up so did we. yea my blazer could not keep up on the way back :frown1: need more power lol

i got a terrible vib at like 45, but after 50 its gone, then reach 80 and its not shaking its jsut all it has lol

Here in So Cal if your not doing 80+ you are in the way. That is of course when your not stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, in which case I use Low Range. With my 37's it says 75 but the GPS reads 86.

Dude your retarded, its called interstate driving, when a car in front of you is going the same speed as you, doing what you do, you follow em...plus you get drafting benefits ;) :D

Ok that is my last post on this thread too.

Mine is not a K5 but i can get up to around 80 with ease. Never tried to go faster than that though. I used to have a real bad vibe/shake anywhere above 50Mph. Then i found out the driveline angles were off by 9 Degrees. On top of that the PO welded the 2 rear spring pearches on the tubes over 2 degrees off from each other.
I wonder why my spring packs are shot.....

1987 V10 LB
Hydo SM465
D60 & 14FF Both 4.56:1 with detroits.
Unbalanced 35 BFG's

I've gone 100 with my set up but for cruising with a 454 and a sm465 and 4.56s on 37's I like to go along at 60mph. the damn 454 spins at 3300 rpm at 70 which is too damn loud with the exhaust I have for any extend period of time, esp with the top on.....

Chris

Myself, 60 mph is plenty. If i go faster the mpg's are goin in the garbage with my little 305...and thats with my 245's  . If i put my 35's on, well its just plain ugly  I probably get 8 to 9 mpg @ 60 mph.

I need a diesel a.s.a.p :)

I have made it from galveston island to north dallas in 4hrs flat w/ 35's bfg at's 4.10s and 700 r4. Dont know the speed becuse the speedo was peged the entire time. probably about 80 mph All i know is when passing 18 wheelers make sure you got a grip on the wheel as they tend to put out lots of turbulance. :D
