First Gen, all hardware no software

So I bought this '70 K5 and fell in the rabbit hole ever since. It was tired, a victim of someone's "perfume on a pig" restoration. Original 350/350.Paint is nice.
Could it possibly be a vacuum leak? What's your vacuum reading at idle, is it jumping around?
Vac readings are all good
I was scoping out the numbers on those wires in your pic. Looks like it is out of order?
I'll double check em but I thought they were right. It is one tooth of just the way I dropped it in so it's indexed a little farther

According to the numbers and the picture, @Fastereddie looks to be correct. You have #6 following #4.
So maybe you have 6 and 3 swapped?
Or are the number tags incorrect?

I said the order several times in my head to think it through more, cuz I be old...

Well I sure am glad I have good friends across the country to double check my firing order:bow:

#3 & #6 were swapped for whatever reason... I'm slow...

Anywho I was really excited it was running good took it down the block and as I got on it it shat out on me again...

Still seems like ignition issues to me:dunno::confused:

Is it possible the hei module is going bad? It's a new distributor from the last build so it doesn't have much time on it but I dunno. The msd rev limiter is solid state and the only other addition to the ignition system. Maybe I can disconnect it and try it again.

Got an MSD box or regular coil? Seems like lots of issues like this with MSD boxes, maybe just the fake ones though.

So an epiphany of sorts, I want to check the 12v source to the fitech particularly from the master switch to the ignition toggle on the console. I can't recall if I ran a dedicated wire to the switch or if I'm feeding the entire panel. There's a possibility the fans, water pump etc are either drawing away or causing interferences. Either way we'll see how I feel after work/gym today. I'll also reset the learn and clear everything in the fitech since it learned with the wires swapped

The Fitech (+) should be wired directly to the battery, if possible.
And run the ground to the frame.

I was just gonna say you should double check power and grounds. I've heard of weird running issues if all things aren't grounded properly. Like the engine/body/frame.

To be clear it should have a main power wire (big) and a key hot wire (small) correct? Then the key hot controls the fuel pump.

So most wiring checks out however I had a black with white tracer from the old regulator/alternator setup spliced with the 12v source for the fitech :dunno:
I'm running a dedicated 12g from the battery to feed the fitech. This will be the only constant that can't be disconnected by the master.
Have the battery on charge as well. I'll test fire tomorrow after resetting the ignition and initial parameters in the handheld.

Good forkin bye Fitech! I'm over it!!! I'll be ordering a 750dp from FST but in the mean time I'll get the regulator figured out with this Holley 4160 600cfm off my 400sbc. Smfh
