Fixing my K5 impulse buy

My impulse buy 84 K5, definitely need help.
I have the opposite problem. Mine won’t read over a 1/4. I’ve ohmed the sender and it’s good. I’m guessing the gauge is shit.

The 2 1/4" exhaust system didn't fit very well, it was against the fuel tank and close to back of tire. Never been a fan of dual exhaust over the axle.

After I get it running and the snow melts I will take it to the local muffler shop and have a tailpipe installed with a flowmaster 524553 2.25 dual in /3.00 center out.

I'm pretty sure the sending unit is dysfunctional. I found some bumpstops I thought sold at the Swapmeet. Lower shock mounts needed little grinding.

Are you replacing that upper shock mount? :eek1:

Probably should have, I cleaned out the cracks and filled them with some scabby weld.

Don't some of the bilsteins mount upside down on these trucks? I don't know I just vaguely remember something like that once.

The 7100 series on my crew cab has body on top I don't think they're upside down just made different

I think my bilsteins are mounted body up. There's some debate as which is the correct way. I recently installed Fox 2.0s on my Silverado and they specified body up mounting. Bilstein 5100s are basically the same as the 2.0s so :dunno:

The boots were on when I took them out of the box, the drain is on bottom of the boot, shit rolls down hill and I can read the writing on the shock when the tires are on the dirt. :screwy:

Monotube shocks can be mounted anyway. I am not sure about bypass shocks

The plastic tray inside the fuel tank was broke around the studs so I put some SS washers on it.

I took the transfercase to the transmission shop to be checked out, Joe at the shop said there was every color of silicone including clear used on this transfercase and part of the oil pump was missing. He cleaned and put everything back to the way it should be.

Does anyone have any idea on this speedo cable that was never hooked up? Probably have to replace it with one that has a nut or is there a clip that holds it. There doesn't appear to be a place to bolt a clip on The case. The parts suburban is electric so that's no help. :1zhelp:
